At loose ends ((Open RP, Mello, Halls))

So, that samurai has canceled our lessons without explaining anything as to why. I know damn well it's not because he's satisfied with my progress. Something's going on here. I have a couple of hunches, but without sufficient evidence, none of them is any more likely than any other.

Whatever. Now, I have three hours a day that aren't scheduled. I could practice, but I already spend more than enough time practicing already and he's already bitched at me about practicing wrong when I practice on my own.

So, for now, I have decided to examine the paintings along the walls. It's not like I have anything else to do and maybe some of them will be at least mildly diverting.

Koromaru wanted some time by himself, so he was taking a walk. After taking care of some things, he decided to explore the school. Sniffing around for a while, he eventually found himself at Mello's feet.

I look down, raising an eyebrow at the dog. "You talk, too?" I ask, my hands sliding into my pockets. Just what I need, another mutt to have to worry about with the idiots around here...not that Wishbone is much trouble, unless he wants to visit while I want to be with Near.

Koromaru tilted his head. There's a dog that talks around here? Like a human? How interesting!

Koromaru barked.

I raise an eyebrow. "I guess not." I look at the dog. A jacket and a winged collar? "You don't look like someone's pet, unless they're particularly cruel. Did that Hat thing bring you here?"

Koromaru barked and moved his head up and down in as close as a 'yes' gesture as he'd get.

"Poor mutt," I say. "Stuck here and no one understands you. Though, you do seem to understand what's said to you. Know anyone here?"

Koromaru nodded again. Sure, this would probably be easier with Aigis to translate, but this is fun!

I tilt my head at him. "How on earth did you fill out that damn application? Does the translation charm work with quills but not ears?" I ask.

Looking for something to answer Mello's question with, Koromaru ended up pulling out his wand and traced letters in the air (kinda like in the second Harry Potter movie) until it spelled out 'Aigis'.

Great, the dog can spell. Figures, doesn't it. "I don't know anyone by that name," I say, which is kind of pointless. "You looking for...them?"

Koromaru shook his head no, but with no means of talking, he was unsure how to communicate further with the new person.

I should probably keep this to 'yes' or 'no' questions, then. "You're just exploring, then?" What the hell? This place has made me go mental...giving things to little kids and talking to dogs.

Koromaru nodded, wagging his tail. He needed to explore. It was good to know what to expect while he's here.

At least the obvious questions are easy enough to figure out. "Careful, the staircases move and the rooms seem to change as well," I say flatly. "And, don't become anyone's experiment." Not that I think many here would actually bother, but you never know in this place.

Koromaru growled. Hearing that reminded him of Fuuka, and he still needed to find that creature and attack him again.

I snort. "I wouldn't recommend finding anyone that causes you to growl like that. Though, I doubt it's anything that happened to you, right?"

Koromaru whined. Not him. Someone else. He paced slightly.

I frown at the dog. "What? You want me to follow you?"

Frustrated at being unable to express his thoughts, he took up his wand again and slowly traced out letters until it said "friend got hurt".

"So, which psycho did it?" I ask. This mutt must be from somewhere were people understand barking or something.

"White hair," he wrote, not knowing Apos's name.

"Koro-chan!" a voice cried, looking for him.

I lean against the wall casually. White hair? That other blond? I look down the hall. "Your friend?" I ask.

Koromaru whined loudly. Sometimes he wished he could speak.

"Koro-chan!" Fuuka said, running up to Koromaru and getting on her knees, hugging him.

Koromaru licked her face, reassuring her.

I watch, pulling a chocolate bar out of my pocket. It's obvious the answer was yes. Though, is this the friend that was hurt?

The person nearby was human, not demon or...whatever Apos was. So Fuuka relaxed slightly. Not by much, but still.

"I'm sorry if Koromaru was bothering you," she said when she looked up, though she didn't let go of Koromaru yet.
