Recovery (closed, Kusuriyuri/Kurama, likely NSFW)

Hands charred, nasty gash on the chest, various wounds from fire and shrapnel littering his face and arms... Kurama certainly did not look like the epitome of health. He didn't feel like it either, but managed to not limp in view of anyone as he made his way to the rooms he and Kusuriyuri shared.

Even though he felt like he'd taken a stroll through the London Blitz, it wasn't his health he was concerned about. He could smell Kusuriyuri's blood thicker here, but he could also hear the cats, and Kusuriyuri speaking to them softly. With that small relief, he pushed the door open with his shoulder, sliding in and leaning against the door as it closed again with a little sigh.

"Koi," he said softly, keeping the rage at his old foe at bay until he could get the scope of the situation, "please tell me Karasu didn't actually blow your leg off."

"Surprisingly," he admitted, moving up so he was within easier reach, "I can't think of anything I'd rather do than this." It still hurt too much to move the amount that would be required, anyway.

Kusuriyuri blinked. "Truly?" he asked. "Itoshii desires no more? He who is insatiable is satisfied?" He laid his hand on Kurama's cheek, then his forehead. "Should this one see about more medicine?" he asked, genuine concern in his voice.

Kurama snickered, nuzzling into Kusuriyuri's hand. "Is it so wrong that I don't want to risk that gash reopening? Unless you like making love in pools of blood, in which case I wish you'd mentioned things like that earlier."

Kusuriyuri shook his head. "No," he said, his hand moving to Kurama's arm, encouraging his lover to lay next to him as he shifted to sit. His feet throbbed, but they could be ignored. "If Itoshii's chest is that damaged, this one should see to it," he said, reaching for the bandages.

He reached out and grabbed Kusuriyuri's hand, bringing it back. "Don't worry, I'm fine for now." He laughed again, leaning in for a kiss. "It's enough giving you pleasure."

Kusuriyuri frowned. "Why is it you are preventing me?" he asked, stilling, watching Kurama. "Is it that you desire to be in pain? That you desire to remain marked when it is not needed?"

"I'm not in pain at the moment," he protested. "I just don't want to move around and cause a blood eruption."

The fact that Kusuriyuri seemed genuinely worried (and perturbed) that he didn't want to go any farther was in turns funny and disconcerting. Funny, because it was true that he really enjoyed sex, and disconcerting that it had become such an apparently domineering factor of his image. His ears twitched flat, and he made a face in an effort to be endearing.

Truth to be told he'd likely give in if Kusuriyuri kept giving him that 'I'm pretty sure you've gone mad or I did something wrong' look.

"Why is it Itoshii is not healing? Why is it he will not allow this one to see, to heal him?" Kusuriyuri asked, his hand resting on Kurama's shoulder. "Why, if it is unneeded, does Itoshii insist on pain?"

"I am healing," he promised. "Just not as quickly as usual. But I am not, at the moment, in pain. In fact, I'm trying to avoid pain." He chewed his lip a moment, thinking. "We don't necessarily need to stop, I just can't think of a position where we could both be comfortable." Kusu straddling him was out of the question, with legs so damaged as they were, and Kurama on top would be a lot of dangerous bending.

Kusuriyuri frowned slightly. "Itoshii healed quicker from the fight with the samurai. Why is this so difficult to heal?" he asked. His hand moved to Kurama's hair, his fingers trailing through it. "If Itoshii does not desire, there is no joy in it," he murmured. "But, this one is concerned for Itoshii." He sighed, his hand coming to rest on Kurama's shoulder, his eyes on it a moment, then looked back up at Kurama. "Will Itoshii allow this one to offer what healing may be given?" he asked. While he didn't have the energy to fully heal the wound, he could get it to the point where bleeding wouldn't be an immediate concern.

"Probably because you were there right away to help," he mused. Kurama wasn't exactly the best of healers to be sure, and his fight with Karasu didn't help things. He'd been picking at it before, too, marveling at being able to see his own bones, intact.

It... had been a weird night.

"Don't wear yourself out," he begged, though he didn't resist.

"This one will not be able to rest properly if he is concerned for Itoshii," Kusuriyuri murmured. He placed his hands on either end of the gash. While his energy wasn't up to a full healing, his skill guided his energy to where it was most needed. He closed his eyes to focus, "Why does Itoshii desire pain?" he asked again, his voice distant. "Why must he be punished?"

Kurama meditated on the question, sing it as an excuse to not dwell on the strange feeling of a wound closing on fast forward.

"It is what I know," he said finally, eyes closing. "I know pain. It in everything is one of few constants. Something familiar." Comforting, even, in a strange world, where the only (though not less important) other comforts were a lover, a few friends, and a willing student, all unfamiliar in years to such a long lifetime.

Kusuriyuri did as much as he could just then, which was ensuring the skin was firmly closed and the muscles were well on their way to healing. He let his hands relax and rested his head on Kurama's shoulder, exhausted but more at ease now. "Does...is it that Itoshii desires pain?" he asked softly. "From this one?" he added, clarifying his question. "Is it difficult to accept joy? Or are joy and pain one?"

"I don't specifically desire it. Pain and joy can be mutually exclusive; I feel joy so easily from you that I don't even think about pain." He grimaced at the thought, realizing that psychoanalyzing oneself was never an ego-happy process.

He curled around Kusuriyuri, holding him easily now that the pain was gone completely. "When it happens, though, I like to cling to the feeling. To remember what it was like before. I don't regret that I can't go back to that, as long as I can remember what it was like to be there."

"Hmm," Kusuriyuri murmured from the edge of sleep, though he was relieved that Kurama didn't desire pain from him. He wasn't honestly sure he'd be able to provide such for his lover, though he would try if Kurama had wanted him to. "Hen na koto," he mumbled, nuzzling into Kurama's hold.

All that buildup and now you're sleepy, Kurama griped inwardly, though he couldn't resist a smile. "Yeah, but you knew that already," he said, pressing a softer kind of kiss to the corner of Kusuriyuri's mouth.

Kusuriyuri hadn't quite had the energy to spare to heal Kurama, but he had to do it, he had to know that Kurama was alright. His body demanded rest, to restore itself and feeling Kurama hold him easily let his mind drift into an easy sleep, one that did much to restore him. His legs still ached when he woke, but the pain was much less. He blinked, waking slowly.

Kurama reached down and stroked Kusuriyuri's hair. He'd woken up earlier, but had been loath to move, instead sitting up to read.

"Good morning, Koi," he murmured. "Good dreams?"

Kusuriyuri nuzzled into Kurama's hand. "Morning," he replied, shifting his head a little to be on Kurama's lap. "This one does not recall his dreams," he said softly. "Did Itoshii sleep well?" he asked, tilting his head a little to look up at his lover.

"When I slept, yes," he said. He set his book aside, shifting to lay down again. "Your legs?"

"Sore, but recovering," Kusuriyuri replied, moving to allow Kurama to change positions. "And, Itoshii, your chest, your hands?" he asked, keeping himself a little away from laying on Kurama's chest.

Kurama grinned and thumped his chest with a fist. It was a bit of a stupid idea - his hands were still quite tender - but he managed to pull it off without a grimace. "When my Koibito heals a man, he stays healed."

Kusuriyuri raised an eyebrow at Kurama but let his head relax onto Kurama's chest. "It would be better if the healing were not needed," he said softly, his hand caressing Kurama's stomach. "But, this one is pleased Itoshii is better."

"I'll try to play nice with the other children," he said, twirling a lock of Kusu's hair around a finger. "I'd much rather we spend our energy on things that are not healing."
