Aoi was quick to discover that Hogwarts was very...archaic. Of course the first thing he'd done was look for technology, and he'd come across the Compy Room. The jack that he pulled from his neck didn't match the USB port on any of the computers, so he'd set off in search of materials to make some. He'd at least like to see if he could still dive on the ancient computers he'd found.

In the end he'd taken one of the computers and ripped it apart, and now he was sitting in the middle of the Compy Room, legs crossed underneath him, toying with the motherboard and some other bits and pieces. His left hand seemed to break open, splitting into panels, and he picked and pulled at the bars therein until he pulled out something like a screwdriver, then closed his arm again. He was determined to make an internet connection, even if Mello had basically told him it was pointless trying.

He was the Laughing Man, after all. If he couldn't...then it was hopeless.

"Now why would you kill a perfectly good computer?" Hell, if Ryuk couldn't troll on the compys, he might as well troll in real life.

"Heh, probably not," Ryuk said, leaning back. "This school has it's own version of the net, I think. Mainly for us students to screw around in. Besides, what do you mean compatible?"

"Oh, so that's why you have an insanely long lifespan, Aoi. Sucks to be you." Ryuk grinned at him.

"My name is Ryuk. I'm a shinigami. Which means you're lucky we're here, or I'd kill you and take your lifespan."

Kurama had his own computer, so there really was no reason to go to the compy room on a regular basis, but there were printers, and printers were necessary. He entered with his laptop under one arm, and stopped as soon as he laid eyes on... the person with a computer for an arm.

Oh my gods, he thought, staring at the hand that wasn't really a hand. It's like every anime Yuusuke ever told me to watch come to life. He would love this.

he tried to think of some witty comment to the situation, but could only come up with "Er..."

"You aren't," Kurama managed, matching Aoi stare for stare, his eyes still fixed on that hand. "What are the terms, android and cyborg? Or is there a difference?"

"Kurama," he replied. He pulled a chair from one of the workspaces, setting down his laptop and sitting to watch. It was fascinating work, even though he didn't understand at all what was happening. He guessed it was probably something like his connection with plants, only more... physical.

"What..." damn, he'd almost asked what model Aoi happened to be. Not cool. "...year are you from?"

"Somehow, I don't find that terribly surprising, considering the speed humans have been adapting technology," he mused, crossing his arms over the back of the chair.

Huh, 2030. He wondered what his would would be like then, if the reintegration would be complete. If it would even be there.

"They don't make USB to SCSI connectors," I say from the doorway. "And those computers are too old to use any modern cards to give them USB ports. Even if they could, you'd find the data transfer rate insanely slow." Nothing like practicality in the morning.

"And you assume that it's worth the effort," I counter. "Those are not connected to an external network, only to each other."

"So, then, you're psychologically addicted to leaving your body," I say. Rather disappointing, but then we all have our addictions.

I watch him for a moment. "They try to use your addiction to control you, too?" I ask sharply.

Victor was seated in a corner of the compy lab fiddling with one of the machines as well--due to his technopathy, he was merely touching its casing to use it. It was debatable whether he even needed the physical contact at this point, but he thought the extra measure couldn't hurt.

He'd been happy to ignore the new kid, up until the new kid started dismantling one of the computers. Victor had yet to run into any of the so-called hackers and computer nerds at Hogwarts, so the display was enough to catch his interest, especially when Aoi's hand revealed the fact he wasn't human.

"Another cyborg, huh?" Victor asked as he came over and stood watching Aoi work.
