L has been thinking. This, in and of itself, is nothing particularly new. But his thoughts of late have turned to the possibility that there is a chance that he may possibly be incorrect about something.
This is something very uncomfortable and dissatisfying to think. He is the three greatest detectives in the world. He should not be wrong, by the very nature of who he is.
But, at the same time, he cannot deny the evidence. To do so would be to deny the very nature of who he is.
It is a difficult conundrum, this new way of thinking balanced against who he believes himself to be.
As he thinks, cubes of sugar find their way into an almost overflowing cup of tea. There is cheesecake with strawberries on it, waiting for his attention. He is here for a distraction from his thoughts, from the line they are taking.
He doesn't wish to be wrong, but to be right is painful.
