When closets rebell ((Open RP, Great Hall))

There were things about this school that were beyond Kusuriyuri's dreams. That he'd find ones so precious to him as Kurama and his students was still surprising to him, still enough to bring a secret smile to his lips.

There were things about this school that were beyond baffling. The tendency for friends, enemies, and otherwise to show up and vanish with little notice, for one.

The fact that his closet refused to give him anything but a short black dress this morning was another. No matter where he looked in their apartment, he could not find his kimono or even any of Kurama's clothes to charm to fit him. It was the only clothing, aside from a black headscarf, he could find.

Believing his closet to be as perverse as the rest of this school, he also figured he wouldn't find his normal clothing until he'd been properly humiliated by wearing what his closet offered.

Boukensha looked at him in askance, but insisted on riding on his shoulder as he went to the Great Hall on his way to his office to study. He hoped that there would be few about as he left, but was sure that there was some perversion in the school that would cause his hope to be rendered into naught.

Boukensha chirruped, a happy kitten noise, in response to Near's question. Kusuriyuri reached up to scratch the kitten's chin. "Aside from difficulties with the closet, well," he replied.

Near smiled at the kitten; he wasn't especially a cat person but the small creature was appealing.

"Hopefully your difficulties will resolve themselves. I wouldn't want to be forced into an unwanted outfit."

Kusuriyuri looked down at himself. "It is peculiar," he agreed. Boukensha mewed, apparently voicing his agreement. "Have you found yourself well occupied?" he asked, turning the topic away from the oddities of his dress.

"The usual research into defensive magic," Near said with a shrug. "It's important, after all."

"That is so," Kusuriyuri agreed. "Have you found anything worthwhile?" While Karasu had been lying low, he did not believe that it would continue.

"I need to research it further, but I came across a reference to a spell that causes hostile energies to reflect," he said, becoming somewhat more animated than usual. "If I can actually find the spell, I might be able to find out if it is usable against demonic energies as well as human magic."

Kusuriyuri raised his eyebrows, impressed. "That would be most useful," he said. "This one is not aware of wards that will do such. Perhaps Matt's runes have information, or his internet," he mused. "What have you heard of them?" he asked, genuinely curious.

"Very little," Near admitted. "At this point, merely a rumor that they exist."

Kusuriyuri nodded. "It is difficult, but I have noticed that you enjoy difficult puzzles," he said. He thought a moment. "There are rumors of demons who can do such. Perhaps Kurama knows more?" he suggested since the kitsune had spent more time in the Makai than he had.

He smiled faintly; to Near, everything was a puzzle.

"Perhaps," he said. "I hadn't thought of it from the demon end of things."

"It may be possible to learn, if it can be done. A has learned Kurama's plant control though he is not demon." He paused and then added, "Do not believe what you read of it, though. Demons will lie, or only tell partial truths. It is better if Kurama, or perhaps Hiei, if he knows, teaches, because then their pride becomes involved."

"What I read spoke only of wizards' magic," he explained. "Demons weren't mentioned at all."

"There are some demon books in the library, I have heard," Kusuriyuri said. "In the Restricted Section. At best, they are merely fabrications. At worst, they are extremely dangerous." He paused a moment to consider. "It is possible to derive truth from them if one consults a demon, though."

"A useful combination, when you have a demon to consult."

"Indeed," Kusuriyuri said. He paused a moment. "Have you questions?"

"I might." He rubbed his chin. Too many questions, not enough answers.

Kusuriyuri looked at Near, an eyebrow raised. "If you find that you do, you are welcome to ask," he replied. "It is likely that Kurama would answer as well."
