"Hey, what's that?" Axel sauntered over, scrutizing the pizza. "Is that pizza? Spare a bit for the starving, will ya?" Axel pinched his ridiculously small waist. "Look, I'm a recovering anorexic! Quick, give me the whole thing before I change my mind." Axel sneered.

"What? Well, I guess so, I can get another one from the kitchen..." Axel looked a bit intimidating.

"Seriously?" Axel blinks. "Great." He picked it up and munched happily for a moment. "Pizza's great, isn't it?" He suddenly remembered his brilliant lie. "Eh, not that I would know. Being so anorexic and all, I never eat. Eating is like...bad or something." He slurped in the bit of cheese dangling from his mouth.

He just better be glad that Phoenix doesn't have his magatama with him, or he'd catch Axel in a lie.

"Yeah, and that's a shame. You should eat more, it's not good to starve yourself."

"Uhpmh, yeah. Totallmph." Axel snorted. This guy was a real sucker, even Demyx or Marluxia wouldn't have fallen for that one. "So, what's the pie about?" He offered Phoenix him a slice of his newly acquired pizza.

"Well, back at school, we used to use March 14th as an excuse to bring round food to school, cause, you know, 3.14 equals Pi. I still like treating myself although it's LONG since grade school."

"Hey, that's clever! I've never heard of that before." He stuck out his hand, "Axel. Got it memorized?"

"It'd be hard not to, it's an easy name." Phoenix shook his hand. "Phoenix Wright."

"HA! Now there's a noble name! Are you in Gryffindor, by any chance?" Axel grinned and shoved more pizza in his big lying face.

"Ravenclaw, actually. I'm a lawyer, so I guess they thought I fit in better there."

"A lawyer, huh? Ah, I see. The name must like lure people in, thinking this guy sounds good. Good and trustworthy, hrm? Did you pick it or did your parents name you?"

"No, my parents did. And actually, most of my clients come in through word of mouth, or I or someone I know knows them."

"Heey, you so got a reputation then. Gimmie your card, never know. I might be needing someone like you someday, am I right?"

In another world, Phoenix is a prosecutor and loses to Axel the defense attorney. But that is a webcomic, and not here.

"Sure!" Phoenix fished around for a business card, and found one which he gave to Axel. "I'm more of a defense attorney, though."

"Perfect." Axel grinned, taking the card. "See you around, Phoenix."

"Likewise, Axel."

L, who has a well documented sweet tooth, may be staring at the pumpkin pie a little.

It's not cherry, nor is it strawberry rhubarb, but it's still pie.

"Um...hi! Do you want a piece?" What an unusual person...sitting like that and, boy, did he look sleep deprived!

Excellent!

"Yes please. If you can spare any." He has what most people would call 'a great deal,' but L could consume that much.

"Sure, I mean, I know where to get more, so it's fine." Phoenix pushed the pie toward L. "Take whatever you want."

Oh, Phoenix, you poor man, L will take the whole damn thing.

He is seriously considering doing so, yes.

But it is pumpkin (and he could get cherry, or strawberry rhubarb) and he is making a concentrated effort to qualify as something approaching sociable while he is here (all the better to learn all your information with, my dear) and it would probably be best to just take a slice.

Alright, a large slice, but.

"Well, it's kinda silly, but back in grade school, we used March 14th as an excuse to bring in round food. 3.14 equals Pi, and we use that to measure circles, and such. I always liked to keep to tradition."

"Three point one four does not equal pi. Pi is an irrational number whose end point has not been calculated. But I cannot object to the pi with an e. It is a very good tradition."

"Okay, rounded to the second digit. We wanted food, we weren't mathematicians."

Phoenix -

Pearl isn't feeling well. I think you know why. I've talked to her; she'll get over it, but I'd leave her be for a day or two.

Also, if Maya ever shows up here one of us has to intercept her before she talks to Pearl. Just so she makes sure to let Pearl know that she feels the same way you do. (Or, rather, don't. I'm afraid to ask how badly Morgan's second marriage went the way Pearl clings to the notion of you and Maya as a couple.)

I'll be down in a little while. Save me at least one piece of that pie, will you?
