((Open to Bart Allen, Oz, George St. Bartleigh, Doug Murphy, Rogue, Willow Rosenberg, Janet Fraiser, Zelgadiss Graywords))

All in all, Oz was taking the end of his bachelor-days rather well. He had just got back to Hogwarts after vanning around Scotland, and had been avoiding unpacking. And now he didn't even have to avoid it anymore. Nice.

Although he did not fight the crowd that was shooed into the tent village, he still got some bumps (especially around the knees). He glanced at his token but rather than heading straight to his tent, Oz decided to take the scenic route. He noticed along the way that there were enough hot tubs to provide hundreds of hours of uncomfortable silence after an accidental groping and a tunnel of love that looked like a monstrous caterpillar. Together they were probably wasting enough water to... eh, Oz wasn't feeling like a metaphor. It was just wasting a lot of water.

Oz made his way to Cluster Nine, which contained tents 38, 39, 40, and 41. It was located at the corner of the tennis court, and just close enough to the Beet Farm for things to probably be uncomfortable.

38 was Oz's tent number. He glanced inside it and looked out, blinking. He then looked back inside, and then looked out again. "Huh."

He'd be checking that one out for a while.

Which would have been most of them, as Zel didn't really have that much stuff. He picked up Lina the cat, examining her briefly to make sure she was alright, then set her down. Well, it could be worse, he reflected. I could be stuck with a guy. Heck, I could be stuck with Wolfram. Might as well try being optimistic for a change.

Not sure how to attract his new "wife's" attention, he coughed quietly. "Um, hello?"

Notes in hand, Janet whirled around. Iggy, (http://pics.livejournal.com/spiritofkitties/pic/0004798e/s320x320) who had been trying to butt his head against her leg, skittered off at the sudden movement. Her glare turned to a brief look of surprise at his appearance, and then a sheepish smile. "Hi. Sorry, I'm--I've been doing some research that I consider fairly important." She hefted the makeshift folder full of parchment up so he could see. "I need to make sure my notes are all here." She got to her feet, shifted the folder to one arm, and held out her hand. "Janet Fraiser."

Zel shook the proffered hand. "Zelgadiss Graywords. Call me Zel, it's easier to remember. And I understand - my, uh, grandfather used to run a lot of experiments like that." Great-grandfather, actually, but explaining that you'd known your own great-grandfather until you were seventeen tended to bring up a lot of questions.

Of course, so did the fact that Zel had stone for skin, but oh, well.

"Zel. Nice to meet you." She sniffled as she looked for a surface to put her papers down on, though she didn't sound sad. "They're not so much 'experiments' at this point as they are comparisons--I've been looking into the physiological effects of dragon pox and trying to see if--" she sneezed--"they're similar to any sort of disease I'm familiar with so that perhaps a better treatment on either side can be found--" another sneeze-- "and I'm so sorry, but it looks like I might be allergic to something in here."

Allergic...? Oh, of course. It's not like there's much else in here to be allergic to, after all. "Cats. You're allergic to cats, aren't you?" The chimera peered under a chair, trying to find where Lina'd run off to.

She nodded. "Among other things. It's why Iggy over there--" she pointed to the extremely ugly hairless cat currently settling down on top of her notes, as cats are wont to do-- "is hairless. But, that's why they invented Benadryl. I'll just have to head over to the hospital wing and see if there's any magical equivalent."

"Sorry. Maybe there's a charm that can make cats stop shedding?" Zel suggested, having no idea what Benadryl was. "After all, it can't be too uncommon a problem..."

"I'm not sure exactly how beneficial that would be for them, though," she pointed out. "It's much easier for me to just hunt down some form of antihistamine or other. You're right, it's not that uncommon in humans. Speaking of which, what are you?" It came out less nonchalant than she had planned--there really was no polite way to ask that, was there?

Zel sighed. It was bound to come up sooner or later. "I'm a chimera. A magical fusion of creatures - in my case, a human, a golem, and a low-ranking demon. I used to be human, actually, up until a few years ago. It's... not a pleasant process."

"Ah. Sorry to bring that up, then." It wasn't the form of chimerism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimerism) she was familiar with, but hey! In a school for magic that routinely brought back dead people and aliens and demons and other such things, it wasn't as big of a surprise as it could have been. "I can't say I've ever known any chimeras of your type before."

"Different worlds seem to have different definitions of the word. But thinking chimeras don't seem to be all that common - normally not even the sort of people who create chimeras are twisted enough to use intelligent creatures as a component." Of course, there were always exceptions...

"Oh." Yeah, she had no clue how to follow up on that. Two sneezes later, and she was looking around for Kleenex or toilet paper or something similar. "Okay, I think I might be making a trip up to the hospital sooner than I planned."

"Might be a good idea," Zel agreed. "If you'll excuse me for a moment..." He headed off to the kitchen and commenced rummaging through the cupboards in search of some cat food, that being a sure-fire way of luring Lina out. The cat acted more and more like her namesake every day.
