A poster appears on the main school board, a scant few lines of flowing script with a blank piece of parchment underneath. The parchment is charmed to copy down all interested student's information into Lily's own personal roster so that she could assign work groups.
Defense Against The Dark Arts Class
will be held this coming Friday, the fifteenth of June
in the DADA classroom on the first floor.
All interested parties please sign up below.
Note: Supplies needed for this class are a copy of Dark Arts Creatures Native to Britain by Felphs Wagglemont (available in the library) as well as your own wand. If you have trouble procuring either of these, please owl Professor Evans or her assistant, Mssr. Sirius Black, immediately.
Additional recommended reading materials:
Boggarts - an Intellectual Discussion of Design by Jonathan McCormath
Common Myths Regarding Common Creatures by Allison DuKept and Brafflemeen Vandergrap
Swish and Flick: How to Move Your Wand so as Not to Blow Off Your Own Head by Windlemere O'Malley
Protection in the Wild (a collection of essays on Dark Arts creatures and their unique abilities) released by Crossed Wands Publications
((OOC: The first of Lily's DADA classes will focus on boggarts. As you may already know, boggarts are creatures that appear as a representation of a person's worst fear. In canon, one appears to Ron as a giant spider, Harry as a Dementor, Molly Weasley as the people she loved lying dead on the floor, and Lupin as a full moon - all things we know to be deeply terrifying to those particular characters.
Obviously, I will not be assigning boggarts to your chars - only you would really know what would frighten them. But because, as Lupin tells his DADA class in Prisoner of Azkaban, attacking a boggart in groups is the safest way to approach them, I will be assigning groups of four. I am more than happy to take requests - both for who you would like your chars to be with and if there is someone you would very much not like them to be grouped with. This is a class that has the potential to be very shaking for some chars; and as such, if you do not want a particular char to be in close proximity to your own because of the added ramifications, now is the time to speak up. For example: If I sign Rachel Morgan up, I would request that the Yellow-Eyed Demon not be in her group for obvious reasons. This is not a personal thing against the YED or its mun (yes, I realize I am both, but you know what I mean. :P). I would like to minimize the emo angst potential, here, but I don't know every plot line or character interaction on the comm. If you'd rather just email me requests, please feel free to do so. But all chars attending class must sign up below.
If your char would attend class but you do not have time to RP, by all means, sign them up; just make me an OOC note so I'll be aware of that.
The class will be set up in a particular manner to ease the flow of RP, so please be willing to read the OOC note in that post when it goes up (which will be sometime early afternoon EST on that Friday).
Additional notes on boggarts can be found in the Lexicon. Please email me, leave me a comment here, or find me on IRC if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks! :D Have fun!
