Note to self. Never ask questions of talking hats. It only ends in tears.

Whiffle balls? Oh, hell no. I hadn't even known how to respond to that. I'd just left it as it was. Better leave it be before it got painful. I didn't want to send Backup back to the crazy hat. Something messy might have happened. Felt and cloth, everywhere. I didn't want to be pinned as an accessory to murder, thank you very much.

So I'd thought, hey. Maybe the library. The library might have had smart people! Smart people? Reading? I was hoping for some kind of relation. But, no. I'd gotten the talkative woman, who'd had way too many empty cups of coffee in front of her to be healthy. I'd found the nervous guy, who'd been sitting there, hunched over a book and mumbling something about needing to protect himself from lions. Okay. Fine. Time for an abrupt approach, apparently.

These suddenly started popping (no pun intended) up, all over the school.

Miss Mars,

I only know about the popcorn phenomena through bitter personal experience. I wish I could be of assistance in this matter, but the phenomenon appears to be completely random, and not at all usual for the Dark Arts.

However, that said, I am given to understand that training in the ancient ninja arts may keep one on the alert should such a phenomenon ever happen again.

I am sorry I could not be of further assistance.

Sincerely,

Veronica,

I only recently returned from being popcorned myself, and have no doubt you will be successful in your investigations.

By the way, you may be interested in contacting Agent Dale Cooper, who is also something of an investigator, although my recollection is that he was a part of the FBI. Still, he might have some useful information... or at least be a good person with whom to network.

Veronica,

I wouldn't say I'm an expert at the popcorn thing, but I have some experience at being it. While I was apparently being a salty snack at Hogwarts I was also back home where I came from, and I sort of... have memories from both things. There aren't many memories to be had about being popcorn, obviously, but still, it's pretty weird. I don't know if it helps you at all, but I figured I'd share what little knowledge I have.

Maybe other people have different experiences, being popcorn? I think some are really confused when they come back, and others are cooler about it... There doesn't seem to be any real rules behind it.

Sincerely,
Lola Sanchez
Gryffindor.
