I've checked out the recommended ancient Runes textbook from the library and read the first chapter. I had a few questions about it, and was wondering if I could come by your office to discuss it.
Meg arrived at Richard's office carrying the introductory Ancient Runes text, a quill and her borrowed wand. She knocked lightly on the door before opening it to peek inside. "Professor? May I come in?"
I heard a light knock, and opened my office door. "Meg? Welcome! I'm glad you stopped by. Come on in."
I held out a chair for her. "You mentioned some questions - since I'm new here, I'll try and do my best." I smiled, and seated myself behind the desk. "What are you working out of?"
Meg set her book on the desk nearby and showed him her notes. "The chapter I was reading was on Nordic runes," she said. "And it said the ancient Vikings used runes for divination. But Ancient Runes and Divination are listed as two separate classes, so I'm curious about what constitutes the sort of magic you can do with runes." The words had come out in a rush, but Meg allowed herself to relax. The man reminded her a little of her father, had her father chosen an academic career instead of the one he'd taken instead.

Date: 2007-05-30 05:34 pm (UTC)Meg,
I think that would be fine. Stop by any time, and bring the textbook. If you can't find me in my office, I'll be nearby, as I'm in Ravenclaw myself.
Looking forward to meeting you,
Dr. Richard Papen
