Robin had indeed been anticipating her arrival. He sprang to his feet, careful not to reach out for her. "You are quick, my lady. Shall we perhaps explore as we talk? Or I can build a fire with ease, if you would seek warmth."
He had no intention of troubling Renata or burdening her with his burgeoning attraction to her; it was enough to be with her. He had told her of his feelings, not to further his suit, but simply to clear the air between them. She was wed, he knew that. But it would do no harm to admire, and the only heart he endangered was his own.
