That should be wonderfully suitable. I shall meet you in the Ravenclaw Common Room then.
Yours, Lizzy
Elizabeth, after spending enough time at her dressing table to put her sister Lydia to shame, appeared in the Common room, dressed in the dress (http://community.livejournal.com/hogwarts_hocus/1095229.html?thread=55125821#t55125821) she'd received from Penelope at her Sorting. However, some old habits died hard and, thus, she wore elbow length white gloves and dressed her hair (http://members.aol.com/CFirthFan/BBC1.jpg) with ribbons and flowers, as per usual. Looking very pretty, she sat down in an armchair and pretended not to be looking for Simkin.
Simkin rarely had to take the time to get dressed. Honestly, he flicked his fingers, and he was wearing some new outfit that usually clashed colour-wise, but fit him perfectly, no matter what.
Tonight however, he was being a bit more staid. After all, one couldn't outshine one's date. So he wore a suit (http://www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/0506-sim/flanerys.ean.html?path=pgallery&path_key=Flanery,%20Sean%20Patrick&seq=35), nothing flashy, but very Simkin.
So it was at eight o'clock, he descended the stairs to the common room, and stopped, mid-step as he caught sight of Lizzy. To be cliche, one could almost say his breath caught in his throat.
Of course, that's about when gravity took over, and pulled him down the last few stairs, falling flat on his face.
Elizabeth looked at him curiously. Did he... just say that he was... smitten?
She colored and laughed, to keep from thinking on it. "I thank you Simkin. I must admit, I had reservations about the dress- the hem is a bit... higher than I am entirely used to. I had meant to wear something else, actually, but I could not quite figure out how to make it." She was babbling- shut up Lizzy. Where was the wit she prided herself on? "Well, now that it's apparent you've fallen for me, shall we go to the party?"
"Something else my dear? I may be able to help there, if you'd care to conjure me a picture. Or at least describe it." He paused, and smiled. "Also, I'm fairly certain that was apparent a fair time ago."
He frowned for a second, as if he was forgetting something, and then a look of realisation crossed his face.
"Aha! I have something for you, my dear." He flicked his wrist, and suddenly a picture-perfect red rose (http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/~mstephen/roywil.jpg) appeared in his hand.
"Oh, I have a picture up in my room," Lizzy replied, ignoring his second statement, though her blush deepened. After a moment, she returned with a picture and handed it (http://fashion.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=fashion&cdn=style&tm=78&gps=101_270_1020_545&f=10&su=p284.5.420.ip_&tt=3&bt=1&bts=0&zu=http%3A//click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click%3Fid%3DP2kJ999Um6Y%26offerid%3D80720.544471081%26type%3D10%26subid%3D) over to Simkin. "I am not so accomplished a seamstress to figure out how to attach a zipper," Lizzy admitted. "It is a technology rather before my time."
She took the rose with pleasure. "Thank you Simkin- this is beyond lovely."
Simkin looked at the picture, and smiled a teasing smile at Lizzy, blinking once. About the only thing that might inform Lizzy that things are different is the change in neckline. That's how fast, and efficient the change is. Quite literally one dress became the other.
Of course, there is the slight change in Simkin's face as he suddenly takes in Lizzy in That Dress. His jaw officially dropped.
Lizzy glanced down and glanced around. Red was a much better color on her than pink, and she was quite pleased with the effect. She turned to smile, slightly shyly, at Simkin.

Simkin isn't always dignified.

"My dear girl, I couldn't be better if I tried. You look fantastic." He pushed himself up, and stood, dusting off his suit.
"So, shall we go visit this party? Or shall we have another walk amongst the gardens?" Simkin's not fussed. Lizzy-time is the BEST time.

He paused and then laughed "Now, before you drive the last few pure thoughts from my head, shall we go attend this delightful little party?"
