The Great Hall has been decorated in Ravenclaw colors, as both bride and groom belong to Ravenclaw house. At every place at every table is a small gift bag, Ryuuji's idea for wedding favors: each one contains a little stuffed aardvark holding a pillow with the couple's names and the date embroidered on it in tiny precise stitches, a packet of flavored gelatin and a tiny flask of vodka for the making of Evil Clown Repellant, and a stick-on transfer tattoo of the Chinese ideogram for 'happiness'. There's a vast buffet table at one end of the hall, flanked by a huge punch bowl and a huger wedding cake (red velvet cake, of course). And, somewhere amid the other buffet offerings, there is a quite attractive array of fine chocolates. If you ask any of the wedding planners where they had procured the chocolates, they'll tell you to ask one of the other wedding planners. In reality, the chocolates have been provided by no one involved in the party planning at all. Tucked under the chocolates and hidden by the decorations is a hand-written note, in a plain envelope that looks rather like a small white napkin.

A small sign outside the Hall lets people know this is the Tam-Maturin wedding reception and it's open to the whole school. There was originally a plan to distribute fliers of some sort, or more exorbitantly to owl everyone at the school. Unfortunately, the drafted invitations got somehow mixed up with the invitations Ryuuji had designed for Stephen's bachelor party, and Stephen refused to countenance the sending of invitations bearing the likeness of Immodestly Hot Homsar. Word of mouth would have to be good enough. Besides, most people eat in the Great Hall anyhow.

(( As with previous magic-chocolates RPs, the effects of each chocolate are up to the mun of the character who eats it. Have fun! ))

"They're both adorable," River agreed, in reference to the creatures. "Pippi sounds like fun--- I'd like to meet her." She tilted her head. "A person? But you're a person now--- just an ichthyoid one."

Then she remembered herself--- various things her mother had tried to drum into her about being a hostess, usually with minimal success (non-linear equations being vastly more interesting than the worse non-linearality of human social customs). "Do you want something to eat?"

Nemo beamed at her compliments to his pets and friend. He then took on an instructional tone. "No, a PERSON person. I'll show you. ... Domino, please?"

With a twitch of his ears and a wink, Domino worked his magic and Nemo tumbled to the floor as a human boy. As always when he turned human, he reached for his pets and gave them each a good cuddle, but then he looked up, remembering his own manners.

"Yes, thank you. That would be nice!"

River beamed. "Oh, you mean a human person." She rumpled his hair. "You should get some food, while you're able to eat it without having to get it wet." She nodded at the fishbowl.

Nemo grinned and wandered over to a table. He stood on tiptoes, reached up over the edge, and grabbed a chocolate. He popped it into his mouth ...

... and the world shrank. Nemo looked down at his suddenly long arms. He looked down at the tabletop that only moments before he had strained to reach. He looked down and saw very long legs. He felt something odd on his chin and reached up - his face was furry!

Nemo panicked. "River?" he shrieked. He looked around. Oh. Where there had been a forest of legs, he could now see and recognize more people. There was Dr. Grant with his friend Laura. Nemo wailed, "Dr. Grant! Help! I'm all big!"

((reposted for rephrasing ... and for correct userpic. Sigh. Sorry, River-mun!))

Grant, having heard someone call for him (http://community.livejournal.com/hogwarts_hocus/1114818.html?thread=56564930#t56564930), made his way over to the man. Dark skin, orange hair, orange clothes. Yep, this is probably Nemo. "Calm down, Nemo," he said. "It's going to be okay."

Nemo blinked away the tears and found himself standing eye to eye with his friend and mentor.

"Dr. Grant! You aren't tall anymore! ... or I'm tall too. Or somethin'." The fish-boy-man sniffled. "All I did was ate a yummy chocolate! I didn't know it was gonna make me all big! I don't wanna be big! Why did it make me big, Dr. Grant?"

Nemo paused and thought a moment. In his newly resonant tenor, he asked, "How did you know it was me?"

"The orange was a big clue," Grant pointed at the empty fish tank, "and that would be one, too."

Truth be told, watching a grown man babble like a child was rather annoying, and Grant was having a hard time resisting the urge to tell Nemo to shut up.

"I don't know why it made you big. It was a bad piece of chocolate, but it will wear off eventually."

Nemo snuffled.

"Oh," he said, reaching down to pluck a napkin from the table and dry his eyes.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't mean to."

Nemo thought a minute and added, "If I'm a grownup now, can I stay up past my bedtime?"

"I know you didn't mean to, Nemo," Grant said. "These things happen." He wasn't sure if "these things" referred to eating magic chocolate, suddenly growing up, or having a meltdown, but it sounded reassuring.

Despite himself, Grant smiled. "Yes, you can stay up past your bedtime. In fact, you can stay up all night if you want to."

"All night? Wow! Do you stay up all night, Dr. Grant?"
