Hi Carrie,

I've never really written letters before, and this whole parchment and quill thing is definitely going to take some getting used to, so please excuse any blotches.

I was wondering if you'd mind getting together over breakfast sometime? I don't know many people here, and you were very nice at my Sorting. The Narrator likes you too, and he and I don't agree on very much; if you could kind of explain to us me a little bit about how this place works, I'd really appreciate it.

I'd love to have breakfast with you both one day soon. I haven't been here but a week or so longer than you, though, so give me a day or so to talk to the Hufflepuff prefects and get some basics on things I haven't already worked out myself? I'd like to try and have answers ready for anything you might come up with, and I really should get to finding this stuff out anyway.

Say, day after tomorrow in the Great Hall? Are you an early riser or a bruncher by habit? I can go either way, just say when you're likely to be there and we'll meet up.

Dear Carrie,

That would be great. I tend to get up early to work out, so I'll meet you in the Great Hall once I'm through. I have a feeling I'll get a handle on things a lot quicker and easier if I'm following someone who knows the ropes--even if you've just learned them yourself.
