He hadn't been drinking, because someone who can alter reality with a mere thought probably shouldn't let up on his inhibitions, but that only helped him to remember to tone down his voice. If he wasn't careful, his half-angel side would be most apparent when he was singing, so he intentionally distorted it as he proceeded to sing with Nny.
