Tim/Jason April Fool's Day 3/?
batsmarts: You think after a once-over like that, Tim wouldn't notice? He felt his cheeks go red. He hadn't even thought that maybe Jason would have to work through. . well, layers to get to see his bones. "C-close enough. Uhm, yeah, that was...G-good," Tim would kick himself for sounding so flustered later. Now, though, he shook his hair back. "Most things you already know. Can't see through lead, and all that. Try to just, uh. Zap a hole in the wall over there. You want to make it really small - think like a drill more than anything else. Be careful not to just take the whole wall down. This... might give you a headache."
redbutnotrobin: Well. That had been an entertaining little diversion. But he was being told to stop now. Now. Yes. X-Ray vision off. OFF. OFF. OFF NOW. OFF OFF OFF! ...Why wasn't the damn thing going off?! WHY?! If Jason kept getting frustrated, it would probably turn into heat vision instead, wouldn't it? Maybe he should just look at the wall and try that. Cue a few minutes of patient glowering at the wall. Then a few more. "Uh..." Jason had turned to stare at the wall, but only ended up closing his eyes again, then opening them and looking back at Tim. The expression on his face was half-resentful, half-annoyed. "How do you turn X-Ray vision off?"
batsmarts: "What?" Tim looked shocked. Kon had never said anything about not being able to turn his x-ray vision off before. The heat-vision, only once, and only because he said he'd been having a really awesome wet dream. "Wait, you can't get it to turn off?" Tim frowned, and moved over closer to Jason. "Fry me and you're in big trouble," he warned, before putting one hand on the back of Kon's neck. Pulling him down, he said, "Wide eyes," and frowned, holding that gaze and looking at Conner's eyes to see if his pupils were dialated or if the whites had gone blue. They'd done that once. That had been creepy. ". . They look fine," Tim said, and shrugged, pulling back a little. "I. . .I don't know. Uhm, maybe if you look at something else or.. concentrate on something else?"
redbutnotrobin: Frustrated, Jason let Tim stare at him, still keeping his eyes open as Tim had asked him to do. Tim's eyes really were very blue, Jason knew that, and having him so close was annoying - Jason kept thinking of the last time they'd been that close, and the crazy-blue that Tim's eyes had been. Except with X-Ray vision, everything was colorless, kinda grey and white. Like bones, Jason supposed. The instruction to think of something else had Jason exhaling heavily, narrowing his eyes so that he could glare at Tim. Part of him instantly flinched at that, scared that the heat vision would turn on and fry Tim, but when nothing happened, Jason relaxed marginally. "Like what, Batwhore? There's nothing up here but you, me, the walls and a hell of a lot of clouds." Tone harsh, Jason scanned the skyline, then stared at the ground before looking back up at Tim, feet to eyes once more and really not lingering on any part of him. Really.
batsmarts: Tim was too distracted to notice the second once-over. He was frowning and trying to remember just what it was that Kon had said about the x-ray vision. It WAS the newest of the powers he'd had manifest, and it was probably the one that gave him the most trouble, but they hadn't ever really talked about it. "Shit," Tim grumbled, and rubbed his eyes, trying to figure out for a moment what it could be. "Maybe you're distracted. What were you thinking about when you fried that bird? If you can think about that again, you can probably at least switch to the heat-vision." And that we already knew that Jason could turn off.
redbutnotrobin: What had Jason been thinking about? Kon's face frowned for a moment as Jason tried to remember, tracing back over his several trains of thought in an attempt to get back to whatever had been on his mind when the heat vision had activated? ...Oh yeah. Tone suddenly changing, harshly angry and viciously hurt, Jason snarled out, "Bruce." The word was bitten out like a curse, like a spell, like the force of Jason's hatred could send it straight to Bruce's heart like a bullet. And thankfully (so very thankfully) he hadn't been looking at Tim when he said that, because the heat vision instantly activated and blew a hole roughly the size of a truck in the wall that he'd been staring at, and continued to blaze through to knock out the wall on the opposite side before Jason managed to fumble and turn it off.
batsmarts: 'Hooookay," Tim blurted, wide-eyed. "Let's not think about Bruce." Tim was sort of surprised. He'd always imagined that Jason hated HIM. Maybe, he thought, just maybe, Jason just hated Bruce for getting a replacement at all and that didn't have anything to do with Tim himself. Maybe. The blue-eyed boy, without thinking, put his hand on Kon's arm to help calm Jason down, giving it a little reassuring squeeze. "So, what were you thinking about when you got the x-ray vision to work?"
redbutnotrobin: Jason might have quipped something like 'Let's not and say we did', but he was too busy keeping a tight leash on the heat vision. He didn't want it on again. No. Damn Bruce. It wasn't fair. He was Robin, had been Robin, had died as Robin and then Bruce had replaced him with some rich brat crazed stalker boy who'd tracked him down and asked for the position because he thought it fit some pattern that the world had? And everyone had just forgotten him and turned him into some memento, like those trophies that Bruce and Dick collected from their successful fights? There was a snarl on his face, an angry, twisted expression that had Kon's face looking close to murderous, and Jason had to stop himself from blasting Tim's hand with heat vision. ...The question, however, reminded him of something entirely different and had Jason blinking, rage derailed. "..."
batsmarts: "Well?" Tim arched an eyebrow, his hand sliding down Kon's arm, fingers brushing against his hand. It was totally natural - that was Kon's body. Tim and Kon, they.. they were very affectionate friends. Tim pulled away then, hands on his hips as he tried to think about the triggers. "If we can get you to be able to control either the rage you get when you think about Bruce OR the . . .whatever-it is when you think about whatever-you-think-about for the X-ray vision, you can definately control them both more easily. Let's go back to the x-ray vision. What were you thinking about?" Tim asked again. He needed to know. This was scientific, and Tim loved science. He was good at figuring science out.
redbutnotrobin: Tim was being very touchy-feely, Jason decided dispassionately. The question was, was he doing that because it was Jason in Kon's body and Tim was trying to calm him down, or was he doing it because it was Kon's body and Tim was used to touching it? And why should Jason care if the answer was the latter? ...Dispassionate. Dispassionate. Right. He wasn't caring about any of this. Reaching up to brush his hair away from his face, only to find that Kon's hair was so short that it wasn't really a problem, Jason scowled impatiently at Tim, "It doesn't matter. I don't need the X-Ray vision anyway. Skip that and move on to the next thing." Like hell he was going to admit that he was thinking about fucking Tim. Kon's body, though, less trained than Jason's to hide emotions, decided to blush. Blush pink. And Jason, of course, was completely unaware of that as he continued to give Tim an annoyed look. While blushing. ...Yeah. Didn't look weird AT ALL.
batsmarts: Tim just sort of. . .stared. "You're blushing," he said with a little shock. A blush on Kon wasn't rare. But the fact that it was Jason's mind thinking things to make Kon's body blush was. . .well, sort of strange. "And X-ray vision is really iimportant. It'll help you find things, find people, find your way OUT of places, and it can help you be sure that the people you're with are either okay or dead. We aren't skipping it. And we've got to focus on whatever it is that helps you trigger it," Tim said with a frustrated sigh, before absently flicking his wrist. The one that Jason had grabbed earlier, the one that hurt. It made a loud, angry crackling noise and Tim looked sort of surprised. His wrist hadn't ever made THAt noise before. But Jason hadn't squeezed him that hard, right?
redbutnotrobin: "Blame the body." Jason responded, reaching up to touch his cheek. It was more heated than usual, and that pretty much confirmed what Tim said. Damn. Jason would need to watch out for that. With a frown, Jason shook his head and was about to argue that no, really, he could do without X-Ray vision and besides, he didn't know how long he was going to have this body and it wasn't as if he was going to go off and join the Teen Titans just because he was in Kon's body and... And Tim's wrist made a weird sound and Jason found himself using X-Ray vision and staring at it before he could even finish that thought. "...It's fine. You just needed to realign the bones." Jason stated after a long minute of staring at the other boy's wrist. Except now he had X-Ray vision on, and was thinking of how it felt to catch Tim's wrists in his hand and pin them to the roof. He could practically feel the scrape against his knuckles.
batsmarts: Tim was a little surprised. Okay, concern -- or more accurately, Tim would wager, immediate need -- seemed to trigger the x-ray vision just fine. "Th-thanks," Tim said, a little surprised. He asked again, "So . . . can you turn it off?" If it was stuck, Tim could just ask Jason what he was thinking about, and there they'd have both their trigger and their block. He rubbed at his wrist tentatively; it might have been fine, but it still hurt. "Obviously, that much is getting reflexive," Tim started, though. . . well, Jason had used the power on HIM. Which was. . .well, weird. Jason, protective of Tim?
redbutnotrobin: Blink. Blink. Blink. Nope. X-Ray vision still on. With a sound of pure exasperation, Jason shook his head and prayed that Tim wouldn't ask what he was thinking of. Because, see, Jason could always lie, but then it might not get him the right answer as to how to turn it off. And apart from that, if Tim caught Jason lying, then he'd have to deal with Tim going back to assuming that Jason was out to kill him, which was just hurtful to Jason's pride. Because if he wanted Tim, Tim would be dead, scrawny little Robin that he was. Or rather, wasn't. Because Tim wasn't Robin and would never be Robin. Just being in the suit didn't make him Robin.
batsmarts: Tim was Robin. But he wasn't the vicious, punch-drunk sort of Robin that Jason had been. He wasn't the chipper and sarcastic one that Dick had been, either. He was a different Robin, analytical and a little colder when he was really in the middle of a fight. He got the job done. He did it smoothly and efficiently, and he knew that strength wasn't his saving grace. His speed, though, had broken Jason's records for the Gauntlet. And Tim knew that he was smart enough and strong enough that if he just pushed himself with everything he had, he'd be a good Robin. Not that he worried about that. Not that knowing how easily Jason had beaten him plagued him or anything. Not that he thought maybe Bruce was just humoring him. Because Tim never really thought that. Not even once. He growled, "Jason. Spit it out. I dont' care what it is, but I have to know if I'm gonna be able to help you get a handle on this."
redbutnotrobin: ...Okay, fine, so Jason was going to have to lie after all. Catching Tim's gaze boldly, but this time aware of the pink that stung his cheeks in a heated blush, Jason answered, picking the first name he knew at random, "Psyche - the goddess that had caught up to Bart and Kon." He'd need to elaborate a little more on that, wouldn't he? Assuming the most confident smirk he could, which was surprisingly difficult with Kon's body, Jason clarified, "I was thinking about if X-Ray vision would work on her, since she's a goddess and all, and what she'd do to me if I got caught." Yeah. There. A believable lie. Now to see if Tim fell for it.
batsmarts: "Getting caught would probably get her husband to make you think you were in love with Dick. You weren't around on Valentine's Day," Tim groaned, shaking his head. "That's.. just about the stupidest thing I've ever heard." Tim didn't say Jason wouldn't be JUDGED for being an idiot. He shook his head. "And that's got absolutely nothing to do with why you'd use it automatically. You couldn't do that earlier, which means that you can't have suddenly thought of Psyche. Granted, for Kon it might have been a reflex, but if you can't turn it off. . . why can't you just stop thinking about her?" Tim asked, looking vaguely disinterested. Whatever Jason was getting his panties up in a bunch about, it probably wasn't the goddess he'd mentioned.
redbutnotrobin: "...Dick?" Kon's face actually turned a little pale at that though. Yeah, fine, Jason admittedly did think that Dick was kind of hot in an objective way, and okay, true, he could see the whole proving-who-was-better-once-and-for-all thing, and with all the sleeping about his Dick - Nightwing - did, you'd expect him to have good sex skills but still! It was DICK. And besides that, the man was clearly repressed and living somewhere in the Egyptian river, judging from what Jason had observed in France. "Her husband must be one cruel, cruel god." Pause. "Wait. What happened to you on Valentine's Day?" Something must have happened, after all, for Tim to sound so completely unnerved by the idea. As for why Jason couldn't stop thinking of her... Jason shrugged, and shot Tim a cocky smirk. "She's irresistable."
batsmarts: "So, what color were her eyes?" Tim shot back the question as a challenge, arching an eyebrow. "Eros, on Valentine's Day, shot people with arrows to make them fall in love with certain other people. I was lucky and avoided the chaos. But Dick ended up being married, against his will, to some snooty blonde kid who isn't here anymore. Whatever happened to that kid, Tim didn't know. "And this guy, he did it for fun. I can only imagine what he'd do if you actually pissed him off." Besides. Tim didn't believe that Jason liked Psyche. they'd barely even gotten a chance to look at her before they were flying off.
redbutnotrobin: What color were her eyes? Jason hadn't seen her upclose, but he knew his mythology. Psyche, wife to Eros, the god of love, sex and beauty. The most beautiful mortal of her time. And she was blonde, and had butterfly wings, and if she was a goddess, couldn't she make her eyes any color she wanted anyway? Blondes tended to have either brown, green or blue eyes. Brown didn't sound like the eye color of a dazzling woman, and green was rarer than blue. But then again, if it was rarer, perhaps it was also what contributed to her beauty? Not sure, Jason decided to dodge the question, giving Tim an amused, what-planet-are-you-from look. "What makes you think I was looking at her eyes?" The description of Eros made him snort and add, "Draco Malfoy. He got popcorned, from what I've heard, but I don't think you can blame it on Eros."
batsmarts: "Way to dodge the question, dumbass. If you're interested enough in someone not to be able to stop thinking about them, you know what color their eyes are. If you lie, we're never going to get through this." Tim rolled his eyes and moved away from jason, folding his arms over his chest to look him over. It was so strange, watching Kon's body stand and move the way Jason did. "Let's just call whoever it is you're thinking about naked something bland. Jane. If you want to turn the x-ray vision off, you've got to stop thinking about her. Simple as that. Now, if you can't, you're either acutely obsessed - and I doubt you're obsessed with anybody but Bruce - or she or something that reminds you of her is in the immediate vicinity. Now, which is it?" Come on, Jason. YOu know it's not like you can FIGHT with your eyes this way.
redbutnotrobin: "...Immediate vicinity." Damnit. DAMN IT. DAMN FUCKING BLAST IT. Jason decided he needed more swearwords added to his vocabulary. Fast. Preferably instantly, really. Because right now, he couldn't think of any except the obvious ones and those weren't good enough. Scowling again, not caring about how odd that looked on Kon's face, Jason narrowed his eyes at Tim. Mistake. Big mistake. He still had the X-Ray vision on. "..." BLUSH.
