A kind of numbness had crept over Kurama as he walked from the sorting room. He had always hoped that another friend from his old life would show their faces here, but he hadn't been fully prepared for just who had fallen through the ether and landed in the Sorting Room.

He did not know which was worse: That Kusuriyuri had met Kuronue first, or the thought that had been poisoning Kurama's mind since realizing his former partner had arrived. If I had only waited.

It was that thought, that poison, which led him to Kusuriyuri's office. There was no doubt or assurance needed over who he wanted - and needed - to be with, at that moment or any other. He rapped his knuckles on the office door and waited, those awful, cold thoughts spinning through his mind relentlessly.

The existence of a nearby sauna, therefore, was a blessing. He made his way there and slipped inside, sitting in the hot steam, feeling it soothe him.
