((ETA: the whole Glorfindel-looking-kinda-like-Skwisgaar was approved by Skwisgaar's player, naturally.))

Glorfindel's continued exploration of the castle had led him back to the popcorn room he'd found Legolas in months ago, curious as to just how beings became the giant kernels, and unable to find an explanation in the library or elsewhere. He had his hands pressed up against the glass of one case, attempting to sense the magic at work when the whims of the castle decided he ought to have a live demonstration.

The glass shattered apparently of its own accord and a butter-covered man with long black hair, slightly shorter than himself but about three times his size, you know, width-wise, stumbled right into him and almost knocked him off his feet. He automatically reached out hold the man's broad shoulders to help steady him.

Methos stood and stretched his aching back. He had been hard at work since he left his chat with Olympia. After his dinner with Brienne, he had been contemplating a suitable gift to send to her and thanks to Oly, he had the perfect idea. He would send her something pratical, but beautiful. Sticking his head out the door, he called for a house elf.

“Take this to Brienne of Tarth over in Gryffindor, please.” He handed a simple wooden box to the elf that immediately scampered down the corridor. The immortal stretched a crick in his neck and turned back to his room. He had been hard at work for hours and he should probably do something about the mess..

The Ancient Runes classroom: no frills, no fancy equipment. It contained rows of desks, a lectern, a chalkboard upon which angular letters had been drawn.

For the present occasion, it also contained a properly berobed Mr. Wednesday. He had stuck a sign on the door reading "Ancient Runes class in session", the date, and the time. This room had long stood in disuse, and Wednesday well knew what uses the students found for Hogwarts' surfeit of empty classrooms — not that he cared as a general rule, but his class session should not be interrupted by trysting youths, karate kids, or Michael Scott.

'Where, when, and why runes were invented are matters for dispute, and are often disputed. Luckily these questions are not our concern.' -- R.I. Page, An Introduction to English Runes )
