As Mr. Wednesday had written to Mello, his office hours weren't regular. Office hours were whenever he was in his office and felt like answering the door. However, he would make himself available by appointment as well, and one of his students had requested a meeting.

Therefore, he settled in for an afternoon of office time. He'd offered to meet with Mello at three o'clock. Anyone else showing up before or after their appointment would find the professor willing to receive visitors, supplicants, or random passers-by (he could draw them a map to the restroom upstairs. The West Tower was possessed of an unusual and shifting topography).

Matt is sitting in the Ravenclaw common room, smoking.

Which is not particularly unusual in and of itself, except he's not wearing his goggles. Or his gloves. Or, indeed, a shirt. His hair is messy and the ashtray in front of him suggests that he's smoked about three packets of cigarettes within a very small amount of time.

Also, it's 4.37am.
