One down, one to go (closed RP, Mello, Matt)

Well, things with Near went better than I thought. I smile softly...it's weird to smile softly. I shove my hands in my pocket and pull out a chocolate bar. Now, I need to talk to Matt.

That's the problem. I'm not sure if he's going to want to talk to me now. I mean, I have to admit I pushed him pretty hard. I wonder if I pushed him too hard. It's not like it's easy to make friends. Puppets are easy. Normal people are so easily manipulated it's not even funny.

But, none of us from Whammy's are puppets...at least not to each other. Maybe to others, maybe even here, still, despite being away from the house. I wonder, are they still watching us, taking notes, seeing if we fit their experiment parameters? What data are they collecting on us now?

I sigh. Never mind all that. I need to talk to Matt. He's probably in his room, gaming. So, why am I standing in the Great Hall? Lingering over food? It's time. The sooner, the better.

I take a deep breath and head down the hall. Just outside Matt's door, I can hear the sounds of a first person shooter game. I raise my hand, hesitating a moment before knocking on the door.

The young man who stumbled into the sorting room is acutely awkward. Tall and gangly, he moved as if his joints were too loose, and he looked around with exaggerated, almost overstimulated curiosity. His eyes (what could be seen of them behind a shock of tangled hair) were wide and wild.
