"I desire many things," Smaug replied airily, amusement bleeding into his voice once eye contact was broken. He didn't mind. It let him know that this one could apparently sense his influence, which meant the applicant was a sight more perceptive than the average being at Hogwarts. Oh, there were some incredibly powerful individuals in attendance, of that there was no doubt, but on the whole they tended to be lacking mental capacity, so far as Smaug was concerned. Power without the wisdom to properly apply it rendered it useless.
