These were all fine and wonderful things, things A felt the better for knowing, but it had not been his original purpose, after all. It was the medicinal uses of plants that had been his initial focus, and that his sensei was still teaching him.

And while it was still winter, it would not remain so. There were things that were to be considered, and he sent a note to Kusuriyuri to get his instruction on the matter.

Apart from what is in the greenhouse and what I have planted in the mangosteen grove, are there any plants you think I should add to the garden this spring? I thought perhaps some might benefit from a more natural environment.
