As the muns plot ((Compy post))

So, yes, the muns are plotting. Poor Maddie, the target of that plotting. Little does she know that as she goes into the Compy Lab to see what ~~horrors~~wonders await her.

Actually, I don't believe the BBC called Maddie.

The mun has a disgraceful habit of following bunny trails in Maddie's posts. Let us get to the point, if you please.

Maddie goes into the Compy Lab and after registering the very clever screenname of "MysteryAuthor" posts the following:

As one who is new to this bulletin board service style of posting,
I was wondering how does one integrate this into normal social gatherings? 
Is it an adjunct to mixers and face to face contact or a replacement for them?

Maddie really doesn't know much about these things.

Messages, that is fascinating. From all I've heard, the Earth is not connected to any other planets at this point in time. It was eventually walled off in my time also, which was really a tragedy.

I didn't say they were from space, just that she said they were. There was
this bloke, a famous 'expert' who took advantage of her, in some ways, and in
others protected her. It's difficult to figure out which it really was. But,
why would Earth be 'walled off?'

It was slaveshielded by another race, supposedly to 'protect' the earth's people. Although humans did have some nasty enemies and were fighting a war at the time, so I suppose it had some benefit. Some few people still managed to travel,afterwards, though. Not as many as I'd hope.

War? I suppose one of the few reasons anyone would want to communicate with
this planet is to either cause war or to make use of us. It's the optimists that
think that those advanced enough to travel in space would also be peaceful.
Though, obviously, there are exceptions. Every rule has them.

You may be right about pessimism, but hopefully things can change. I like to consider myself an exception...

I figure that if we were to actually be able to travel in a practical and
expedient manner (I think some bloke named Einstein said there wasn't a way for
us to do that), then we would probably be tyrannical.  History has a way of
replaying itself and we have shown ourselves to be ghastly to each other.
Again, there are exceptions. I would like to think I am one as well.

Zex paused. This human sounded promising. Open-minded and educated.

"Space travel is indeed possible- though perhaps not this far in the past. Perhaps sometime I could show you my ship and you could tell me more about the history of this place."

He paused, considering how to sign his comment. Love that was the human word for it, yes?

"Love Z." he typed triumphantly.

Yeah, this doesn't sound like a pick up line at all...nope, not one iota...

Maddie's frankly a little baffled, so it takes her a little bit to actually come up with an answer.

This may be something of an odd question, but so that I can prepare properly,
you don't practice any forms of alternate life style, do you?

She has reason's for asking.

Alternate? Zex is confused. Alternative to what?

"I'm afraid I don't know what you mean- I'm alien to this place and not terribly well-acquainted with its customs.

Is there any specific behavior that would trouble you?"

Ah, now to explain this delicately...can it be done?

You are in the habit of wearing what would considered to be clothing, then?

There's a time for nudity and all, but first meetings and tea parties with guests are not those times.

Certainly- My people have that custom. You aren't upset by it, are you? Most people around here seem to wear clothes, but I have noticed one or two exceptions.

Ah, relief.

No, rather the opposite. I would just prefer to know
in advance. I have, at times, been surprised by what some
people will and won't wear.

Alright! If you want to know, I'll be wearing a black VUX military uniform with badges. I hope you are not put off by it!
As I've said before, I'm not from here and that- tends to bother some people. But I have an open mind! And will be looking forward to meeting you. How can I recognize you?

As far as Maddie's concerned, VUX is just some kind of military thing.

She's iffy on the military. After all, the American military arrested her for just being some place.

It took a moment for her to consider.
