Rules for the Debate:

A. Any persons currently nominated for Prefect may choose to answer or not answer any questions asked.

B. Any Hogwarts student or staff member, including those running for Prefect, may pose additional questions to any or all nominees. If you would like to ask nominees questions, please ask them now ((OOCly: post them in a comment or comments to this post. Be sure to indicate in your subject line that your comment contains questions, and if they are directed to specific candidates, please indicate that, as well.)) Keep in mind that nominees are not required to answer any questions. Voters may choose to take failure to answer any way they would like.

C. Question answering begins immediately, and lasts until the time the Polls go up, which will be approximately 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2009. ((OOCly that's 8 pm Eastern Daylight Time. ICly it wouldn't make any sense to specify a time zone since they're all at Hogwarts XD ))

"If the castle was on fire and you could only save one person and one object, who and what would you save and why?"

"I would save whoever was unable to save themselves. And my cat, Masuyo, who is not an object, of course, but for the purposes of the question, she's what I value most."

"'d save who c'dn't leave." He wasn't so attached to any one object yet that he would save them.

"Well, if Mikami-san considers his pet as an object for the question, I would have to say the same of my dog, Yukiko. As for my person...there are so many people that I'd want to save but I think I'd have to say....either Rika or Matsuda. Whomever I came across first."

I'd save my copy of Les Miserables that Professor Snape would give me! And I'd save Schrodinger, so A could save Einstein!

A thought about how to answer that, and knew he had to be truthful.

"I would have to make sure River was safe." Although he was pretty sure she could take care of herself. "That is part of being a good boyfriend. The object I would save is the apothecary case Kusuryuri gave me. Not only is it very meaningful, it would be a useful thing to have if there had been a fire and people were hurt."

I would save whoever was nearest to me at the time and my starship.

"I would make sure Death the Kid got out alright and I would save my shovel. Amongst other uses, I could use that shovel to properly bury the dead. Perhaps I should trust that Kid would get out alright and save the priestess, Rika, instead so that we could hold a funeral too."

Chiri assumes everyone and everything else would die in the fire since she's being prompted to save a person and item.

Hmm. Well. The Daggers of Megiddo would probably survive the fire, given that they surived the explosion in the Thorn Museum all those years ago. If he had his way, Damien would also be responsible for any fires raging through Hogwarts, so why should he save anyone?

"I would hope that I would be putting the fires out," he said confidently. Yes, even if the whole castle was on fire. He was just that good. "But in the spirit of the question asked, I would save the Headmistress, since I imagine she can't run very fast, and for a thing, I would probably save a spell book or two."

This was a difficult question. There were the obvious answers, the Maou, his brother. Waltorana should probably be on that list. Then there was his most honest answer, his knitting supplies. He considered a long moment before replying, "If Yuuri were not the cause of the fire, him. If he were, my yarns. As for why, Yuuri because he is the Maou and it is my sworn duty to protect him."

"I WOULD SAVE TAKO. HE IS A MONSTER OF BEAUTY AND GRACE, AND IS AN OCTOPUS WHICH IS A SACRED ANIMAL TO LORD TARVU. I WOULD SAVE ALSO MY DRINKING HORN."

"Easy. Ryan Howard. Even if he started the fire. But in the event that he isn't here, which...is the event...then Dane Cook. And Tinky Winky, because he~~~ is my betroth-ed, the brokeback to my mountain, the sparkly to my poo, and no one else can or will deflower me gently."

Of course, all of this was utter bullshit. Michael would save himself.

"And for the object, I'd save parchment. And the Tubby Tustard machine." Without Tubby Tustard, Guano would starve to death (or possibly just be much less gassy and disgusting).
