Akabane was a predator. There was no avoiding that fact. The prey he preferred, though, was that which would push him beyond his limits, for all he didn't even know where those limits were. The more his prey challenged him, the more he enjoyed the hunt.

Satou was hardly challenging, but he did have the benefit of living with the one that Akabane truly wanted. And that one seemed to have some type of affection for Satou. So, since the one he wanted remained elusive, Akabane stalked Satou, using him like a lure to draw out his true target.

That Satou rarely left his room and seemed rather distracted and distractable while out was hardly disheartening. All true predators knew to bide their time, to be endlessly patient and their patience would be rewarded.

And, the reward promised to be very entertaining.

But, now was time to draw out his true prey. He knew, though how, he could not say, that Jasper would react this time. He slipped free of the shadows he normally held to when Satou emerged from his room. He didn't say anything, just made sure the man could see him, smiling in what would be, if he were anyone else, a pleasant way, touching the brim of his hat as he did.
