Claire had, indeed, been about to press the issue when Rachel answered. Come on, talking about boys - even if said boy was her uncle, which significantly raised the 'ew' factor - was a lot more fun than talking about the end of the world or shooting people in the head, which seemed to be what most of her and Peter's conversations centered on. Still, the answer wasn't quite satisfactory, and Clare gave Peter a look before she smiled a little at the hand holding. Riiiiight.
"A meerkat?" Hey, she'd switch topics for now, but Peter was so getting grilled about this later! "That's so cool. And yeah, I'd love to come over." Her expression turned kind of shy. After all, it wasn't as if she'd known Peter that long. And Rachel not at all. What if they were just being polite? "If you guys don't mind? I mean, it's okay if you'd rather I didn't crash..."
