Ryder threw his head back and laughed. "Not quite what I meant," he said. "I don't just mean people who can be...call it generally specialized. I mean a state of mind, if you follow." His faded eyes lingered on the kid with an amusement that was in no way at Nny's expense. "I think you've got guts," he said simply. "Most people don't." Not in the metaphorical sense, anyway. Literally...well, yeah. That was another story.
