Then you sight--" he peered down the pistol's short barrel, aiming at a rather ugly vase, "--and pull the trigger."
The vase shattered, tiny shards of pottery tinkling down onto the floor. "There. You try." He passed it back to her. "See if you can hit that one," he added, pointing to an equally ugly vase not far from the first.
