It was probably bad luck to already be predicting failure like this, but Hakkai had always been the type to consider the worst case scenario and not assume an immediate success; it just made it so much more plausible and satisfying when he nodded sagely and solemnly murmured something like, I was afraid this would happen, right after disaster inevitably struck.
