Open RP Hallway to the Ravenclaw Common Room

Mr. Universe walked out of the Sorting Room and into a hallway... a rather large hallway.  "Wow... I have no idea where I am going."  He looked around, quite lost and started walking to the right, hoping to run into someone who knew where things were.

He took notice of the decor, very fitting for a medieval-style castle.  Wide halls, suits of armor, moving paintings...  wait... what... moving paintings.  He stopped in front of a wall of paintings, trying to figure out what was making them move.

Simon was... semi-recovered. Ish.

He still felt like an idiot, but at least he was remembering to leave the lab these days.

He was reading a book as he headed for the Ravenclaw common room -- he managed to not run into whomever was in the hall, and even raised a hand in greeting, nose still in the pages.

"Duey buh chih," he mumbled in Chinese (excuse me, sorry), then waved a hand forward. "Down this way."

If Camilla had reasons for lingering near Ravenclaw, she kept them to herself, and rightly so. To all appearances, she just happened by. With her bookbag. Which was, to all appearances, laden with books.

Oh -- there was the new student with the interesting knack for gadgetry. "Hello. You made it through the Sorting all right, then."

If he'd asked, she wouldn't have told him. She'd have been all innocence. As it happened, his invitation gave her an excuse to be where a certain person might by chance drop by, so she accepted.

"A drink would be lovely. I take it you haven't been in yet, if you say you 'hear' there's a bar? Well, that'll have to change, if you were Sorted here. You were, weren't you?"

What a strangely blank young man. He didn't give one much to work with, in terms of conversation, did he? Camilla smiled and crossed to take a seat at the bar, perfectly at home, wondering how many times her twin had warmed the same chair.

"How did the rest of your Sorting go?" she inquired politely.

"The hat's always interesting," Camilla confided. "Though I'm sure I don't know what would qualify as a non-strange question about, ah, Lenore? You must miss her very much. Oh -- just a martini, no olive," she added absently.

[identity profile] c-macaulay.livejournal.com 2007-06-15 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"That shouldn't be too hard. You'll meet all sorts of people if you spend enough time in the Sorting Room." Camilla accepted the martini with a nod of thanks. Surely he wasn't going to drink straight from the bottle? "Did you meet many interesting people at your own Sorting?"

It was strange how he could say a fair number of words without really giving any information at all, Camilla thought. Her own friends tended to be masters of the improbable anecdote. Even when they weren't telling the truth, it was charming enough that you'd like to believe it. Whether Jeff had in fact met boring people or whether he just didn't know how to make them sound as interesting as they were, Camilla really found nothing she could say in response, except to note, "How nice you did happen upon a friend from your own neck of the woods, temporally speaking. Not every reunion here is always so pleasant." She sipped her martini, glancing about.

Camilla nodded. "All my old friends from college are here. My brother's here, too. And someone we used to know who didn't like us very much." As a description of Bunny Corcoran, this was a bit of an understatement. "We studied classics together. It would have been dreadfully boring to you, I'm sure. How did you learn so much about machines?"

[identity profile] c-macaulay.livejournal.com 2007-06-17 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
"So you're an autodidact." Camilla's estimation of the man went up a few notches. "My best friend taught himself quite a lot before he ever came to school. One can learn so much, if one cares to."

[identity profile] c-macaulay.livejournal.com 2007-06-17 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
A light, self-deprecating laugh. "I'm afraid that's all we did study, really. Classics was our major. Well, we did other things, when our teacher thought some deficiency needed addressing. We also read a fair amount of medieval literature. Dante. The Roman de la Rose. The Chanson de Roland. Mostly, though, it was Latin and Greek. We had a wonderful time." She sighed. The sigh could be taken as an indication perhaps they were not having such a wonderful time anymore. "It seems so much longer than it's really been, between then and now. Only a few years really."

[identity profile] c-macaulay.livejournal.com 2007-06-18 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Camilla blinked, nonplussed. "Your past?"

[identity profile] c-macaulay.livejournal.com 2007-06-19 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
He'd died? If he'd said that in his Sorting, Camilla had missed it somehow. "So this is another life for you in every sense," she said. "Well, you're not alone in that. There are other resurrected persons at Hogwarts presently." Some of them more welcome than others. "When you say it seems like so much time has passed between your past and now, what do you mean, exactly, in terms of subjective time?"
