Closed RP: Death and Mini!Susan

((Backdated to April 14))

Susan, having eaten chocolate and pestered Stephen, then met other girls and tormented a monk, was in search of fresh mischief. Her T-shirt dress was somewhat the worse for wear, as she padded barefoot down the hallways in search of the one other person she knew would play with her.

She was hunting for Granddad.

Of course, there were all sorts of other interesting things to see along the way--and poke at, and chase, and sometimes trip over. Hogwarts was a truly fascinating place to be, when you were only three feet tall, and who knew--maybe she'd run across an evil wasp clown hive.

Death was doing essentially what was normal for him -- which was, to say, stalking the halls and looking accidentally menacing. He might have been expecting to run into Susan at some point, but he certainly was not expecting to see her in a miniature state, and he very nearly passed her by before the shock of white hair caught up to him and he realized what he was looking at.

He stopped and stared ahead, cocking his head curiously to the side. SUSAN?

Well... a bit like Susan, then, and a bit not. He blinked slowly down at her. THE CATS ARE IN MY QUARTERS. WHY ARE YOU SMALL? It seemed like the most relevant question, at the moment.

At her explanation, he sighed. AH. THEY'RE GETTING MORE INSIDIOUS, I SEE. Well, nothing to be done about that, then. Best to wait it out. He bent his massive body and picked her up, hefting her into his bony arms. YES, VERY WELL. LET'S GO SEE THE CATS, GRANDDAUGHTER.

...AH. If Death had a brow, it might have furrowed. WHAT PIECES OF YOUR MEMORY, EXACTLY, DO YOU KNOW? He had no reason to mistrust Stephen Maturin, but that, that sounded dangerous -- and if he was thinking that...

A FAIR POINT, he admitted guardedly. Actually, he was rather relieved, but he decided not to let her see that. He wasn't sure he trusted Stephen, but if the things that she was suggesting were gone truly were... that might have been for the best. He was all right with protecting her from the madness that had been Jonathan Teatime.
