Open RP: Ray and Fraser fall into the common room.

So, Ray had been having a good day, and a bad day. First, he'd gotten locked into a room with his partner by a girl who totally had it comin', now.

That's bad.

Then, he figured out he got locked in because someone'd figured out they both had the hotness goin' on for one another. Huh, crazy, right? A bent Mountie? Who woulda thought? Heh. Now all he had goin' on was a Ralph Wiggum voice going 'I bent my Mountie'.

heheh.

Oh, right. That's good.

Then, just as they were about to go for the good stuff, they got out of the secret passage they were stuck in and tumbled, ass-first, into the Gryffindor Common Room, both of them in rather obviously... rumpled clothing.

Uh. That's bad.

Of course, they were closer to a bed now. That's good...

Rolling her eyes, Lily had been about to wish the two luck and be on her way, when...

"Is he here?" Lily looked around, a bit disappointed she couldn't hear him. "Bob, mate, I think it went smashingly."

Even Fraser winced at Ray's terrible, terrible English accent. He was naive enough about slang to think that Ray was excellent at it, but he knew what English accents were supposed to sound like, and that... oh, dear. Well, Ray was trying. And he had to appreciate the point, anyway. He was definitely in favor of his father... buggering off, or whatever.

"Yes, Dad, you've made your point." He glared at his father. "And if you think I'm going to thank you for it, you're unhinged. Now, are you entirely done gloating?"

Bob was absolutely not done gloating, but he decided he could gloat privately with Lily. Now, how to talk to her... He focused carefully. Don't listen to them, Lily. They're just stroppy because they didn't see it coming.

Fraser made an incoherent sort of a grumbling noise, gritting his teeth, and leaned over to Ray. "I think this may go on for a while."

Oh, Merlin, that was a wretched attempt at anything resembling an English accent. Giving Ray a horrified look, Lily pointed at him. "You. Never again." And people thought her American accent was bad.

Grinning, Lily just shook her head. "Fine, fine. You two crazy kids have fun. And Dief is, I'm assuming, still wherever you two left him, so make sure to tell him hello. Oh, and cover his eyes during the naughty parts." She'd actually turned away, pausing to look back over her shoulder. "What does stroppy mean?" she asked with a puzzled frown.

Fraser wasn't going to deal with Ray's accent. Ray's accent was, indeed, terrible, but 1) Fraser was in no mood to take Lily's side on anything, and 2) it was in his best interests to stay on Ray's good side right now. Besides, he was busy dealing with something much more annoying, e.g., his father.

Stroppy. You know -- pouting, sulking. Look at those faces. Bob snickered. Fraser pinched the bridge of his nose, his jaw clenching.

"I am neither pouting nor sulking, Dad. In fact, I was in rather a good mood before you showed up," he pointed out irritably.

Oh, I'm sure you were, I'm sure you were. Bob replied cheerfully, unfazed by his son's anger. Well, don't let an old man like me slow you down.

Fraser snapped. "You know, you really need to-- to look into some help, or something, you really do, because this, this is not even remotely a healthy..." Forget this. He had better things to do. All but growling at his father, he grabbed Ray's arm. "Let's go, Ray."

Wait. If Ray didn't hear that... And Fraser was talking to...

"Bob!" Lily grinned. "I can hear you!" Then, laughing, she nodded. "And yes, sulking like great sprogs without their favourite toys. They're just angry we figured it out before they did."

Rolling her eyes, she nodded at Ray. "Fine. Dief is better company right now than you two lovesick kids, anyway. Bob, would you care to join me for a cuppa? I'm sure that Dief wouldn't say no to a scone, either."

[identity profile] themountie.livejournal.com 2007-02-16 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm to take it that 'cuppa' means that tea you were offering? Bob asked, watching his son and the detective hurry off. Heh. I'd be happy to, if you don't mind drinking with a disembodied voice. I'm sure Benton will be glad to have me out of his hair for a bit. What's a sprog, by the way?

[identity profile] lilypotter60.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Grinning, Lily nodded. "It does, indeed, sir. And I'd be thrilled to have tea with you, body or no." She'd been about to turn and start walking towards the doorway when Dief came trotting down the stairs (http://community.livejournal.com/hogwarts_hocus/1171137.html?thread=59775169#t59775169). "Ah," she smiled ruefully at the wolf. "I take it that you've been banished as well? Come on, then. Would you like to join Bob and I for tea?"

As she walked, Lily added, "And 'sprog' means child. Now, sir, Benton tells me that you were a Mountie as well. Did you enjoy it?" An afternoon of RCMP stories and tea sounded like a brilliant way to spend her time.

Dief whuffed and butted his head against her leg, giving her a look that almost seemed to say what can you do? He wasn't too upset with being kicked out, not really -- he liked his room, but at least he had somewhere else to go this time.

Bob grinned down at the wolf and bent to pat his head, although of course his hand passed right through. Come on, boy. He straightened and followed after Lily. Well, I'd hope so! he laughed in response to her question. I did it for more than thirty years.

Laughing, Lily reached down to scratch behind Dief's ears. "I know, love," she told him with a grin. "They need some time. But I'm sure Steeler will love to have some company, and you're welcome to stay with me as long as you like."

Turning back to where she assumed Bob was, Lily said, "My dad worked in an office his whole life. He didn't really enjoy it. I reckon it's a nice thing, to like the work that you're doing."

Walking out the doors, Lily lead the way down to the Great Hall. (http://community.livejournal.com/hogwarts_hocus/1173175.html)
