Open RP for characters who like swordfighting
((Because it's time they all get to meet and whip it out compare weapons and methods.))
Joscelin was up at the first light of day, as usual, to go through the Cassiline exercises that he had done every day since the age of ten. He started with the dagger forms, concentrating on his left arm. It had never quite been the same after being broken years ago, but it had improved vastly from when the bone had first healed enough for him to begin practicing again.
Aayla liked varying the times and locations of her daily meditation and lightsaber practice. It kept her sharp. She hadn't needed to use a lightsaber for its intended purpose once since she had arrived at Hogwarts, true, but she didn't intend on letting herself fall out of practice. She noted that there was already someone in her intended location near the lake and settled herself a short distance away, stretching and beginning with some basic forms before throwing herself into the complicated leaps and acrobatic moves that her preferred Ataru form entailed.
Joscelin watched the new arrival as he finished going through the dagger forms. She was blue and clearly not human, which was eye-catching enough, but the blade she was using was not one he had ever seen before. He waited until she had reached what looked like a stopping point in her exercises and bowed to her, catching her attention. "What kind of weapon is that?"
"This?" She reignited the blue blade. "A lightsaber. Similar to a sword in appearance and function, but it can cut through nearly anything. It's the preferred weapon of a Jedi Knight."
"Very interesting." Joscelin decided to inquire about Jedi Knights at a later date. "It seems an unfair advantage."
"When your enemies are firing blasters at you--that's a type of projectile weapon, it shoots superheated plasma--a lightsaber's actually a disadvantage unless it's used by a Jedi. Our Force-sense allows us to be more precise and even deflect the bolts."
"So your weapon is also your shield."
"That's it. I gather that those vambraces on your wrists are effectively shields as well?"
"Yes. Cassiline brothers are known for our distinctive arms. A Cassiline fights primarily with daggers and only draws the sword to kill."
"Interesting. We'll have to talk more about this later. I'll leave you to your practice."
"And I to yours." With mutual bows of respect, the two returned to their activities.
