Sanzo waited with unusual patience for Hakkai to sort through his thoughts. When he looked up, Sanzo met his eyes calmly, but when Hakkai looked away again, Sanzo grimaced at the mockery of a smile. He knew what was behind the facade, and it worried him to see it so close to the surface. He could have claimed that he was concerned because he had accepted responsibility for Hakkai's actions, but the truth was he was just worried about Hakkai himself.
