That brought another smile to his face and he allowed himself to open his mind just a bit to absorb what the Master was experiencing, and perhaps forgets his own doubts for the time being. That did of course open up the possibility for the Master to catch a glimpse of his guilt and self consciousness, but the Doctor wasn't terribly worried. They were both just lost in the moment.
