A very literal Valentine's Day ((Closed RP: Vladimir Harkonnen & Valentine Wolfe))
Although the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen was not given to commercialized holidays devoted to the most banal and insipid aspects of affection, Valentine's Day was not a day to miss. After all, he didn't have to interpret the date as a celebration of sickening novelties in bright pink. That was for the common sorts. His own interpretation of the holiday was quite literally as Valentine's Day, since after all, it was labeled as belonging to him, and therefore, was a day for showering Valentine with gifts and indulging him in his each and every whim. Of course, in Vladimir's opinion, most any day was good for this, but, nevertheless, the date was labeled, and so gifts and indulgences there would be.
Vladimir had been hard-pressed to come up with a gift to rival the islands he'd gotten Valentine for Christmas, and in the end, decided on a more modest, but cohesively themed gift, inspired by Valentine's admiration of the DETHTOWER lasers, and their intent to host a rave sometime soon after their official union. His thoughts were turning more and more towards this approaching date as the winter deepened, as spring would be arriving soon, and with it, far better weather for a wedding gathering at the DETHTOWER. What a splendid day that would be, when it arrived!
But for now, Vladimir had focused his immediate efforts on creating a splendid day for Valentine. He'd awoke slightly earlier than usual (still not exactly early), and let Valentine sleep, while making sure the details he'd ordered Mopsy to arrange were in place. On waking, Valentine would find a small, sectioned silver dish, filled with a quantity of top-notch coke, ecstasy tabs, and Spice-laced candies that Vladimir had directed the house-elves to produce. He would also find a fancy new crystal-studded hookah, along with a kitschy led light base for it.
These gifts were mainly meant to set the right mood for the day, and to ensure Valentine's enjoyment of the rest of his gifts. These consisted of a collection of rave-style lighting effects, a couple of fancy laser display makers, and a powerful fog machine. (Vladimir had really been quite taken by aesthetic effect of the battle fog in the Hat Shore's Harkonnen Dining Experience, like any proper overlord-type.) These gifts were too large to have stacked them on the bedside table, and so they were stacked nearby. Satisfied that everything was indeed in order, Vladimir returned to bed, where he sat up reading a book about the Battle of Stalingrad. It was perhaps a primitive affair, but, Vladimir was quite enchanted by this particular battle, given his House's supposed roots in old Russia. He ordered in some breakfast as usual, including an assortment of pastries which Valentine might enjoy on waking, and this occupied his time while waiting for Valentine to wake, along with the occasional affectionate glances at the sleeping man, of the sort he'd never let anyone see in public, lest they realize just how much he actually did care about Valentine.
