Toki woke rather early on Valentine's Day- mainly because he'd been so excited about his gifts for Skwisgaar. But, the bed was quite warm and cozy, especially due to Skwisgaar's clinging body pressed against his. Toki was content to lay there fading between sleep and waking for a while, sinking between the jumbled content of dreams and the very real awareness of Skwisgaar beside him. He couldn't imagine a nicer place to be, and even when alertness started to win the tussle between dreams and reality he was happy to lay there quietly, snuggling close, with his own arms over Skwisgaar's, assuring that they'd stay that way for a while.

It took a moment of being awake to remember exactly what was so exciting about the day, but soon a vision of jumbled felt and construction paper reminded him of what he'd been anticipating. Like usual when a holiday was approaching, Toki had devoted whatever time he wasn't with Skwisgaar to making crafts for him with the upcoming holiday in mind. He'd also slipped off to Mordhaus briefly a few weeks back, to prepare part of his gift, a gift which had caused the engineering Klockateers more than a little concern, but which they'd agreed to accomplish with the usual "Yes, Sire".

As Toki finally opened his eyes, he caught sight of his crystal Flying V-shaped dish, which usually in the game room, but was now in their room, and filled with candy! And it looked like super-awesome candy- Toki knew his candy well, and, was sure that these were candies he hadn't seen before. From where he was, he couldn't see them too well, however, just like he couldn't quite make out the details of the Valentine card propped against the dish. He could, however, tell that it was handmade, which made him all the more impatient to take a good look at it.

Toki was still too comfortable to want to try too hard to get up, which would have indeed have taken some effort due Skwisgaar's cozy grip. Toki's own gifts for Skwisgaar would require getting up so that he could extract them from their hiding places in the closet and beneath the bed, aside from the couple of present he'd already had put into Skwisgaar's aquarium, under the hopes that he'd not notice them until the morning. This was a pair of red lionfish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_lionfish), and he'd counted on them being shy and hiding themselves away until they felt more comfortable in their new environment. He lifted his head enough to take a glance at the aquarium, but, couldn't tell if they were out and about yet.

After another moment, he wiggled around a bit, extracting himself just enough from Skwisgaar that he could reach over the side of the bed, trying to fumble around beneath it. His first few tries failed, but eventually he got hold of a bit of felt, and managed to pull out the gift from where he'd stowed it the night before. Squeezing up with Skwisgaar again, he shifted around enough to nuzzle at him, asking, "Skwisgaar, ares you awakes yet?" He then nuzzled him with the gift, which was a handmade plush toy with a card tied about its neck. This toy was meant to be a plush shark, but, Toki had evidently paid no attention to the real sharks in their aquarium while crafting it, the results of which meant that it looked more like a fat tuna with a big toothy mouth and extra pointy fins. Around its tail, a card was tied with a ribbon, one of Toki's usual construction paper and glue creations. The front contained a macaroni heart, covered with red paint and glitter, in the middle of which were simplified figures of himself and Skwisgaar atop an airborne Smaug, holding hands. A few blobs of pink construction paper with puff-ball eyes were stuck to the dragon. The inside of the card read simply, "Loves you, Skwisgaar, from Toki", and contained another cut-out-assembly image on the inside, of Skwisgaar as a merman, and himself as one too, of a rather catfishy nature, again holding hands.
