[Open RP] The first episode is always the most boring...

So Kaga had been eating dinner and wondering when Hogwarts had TVs in the Great Hall, or whether they would even work.

Then the first episode of Hat Shore began.

Kaga had wrinkled his nose at the idea. He doesn't watch much TV (there were better things to do) but he was aware of the concept of reality tv and found it distasteful. Sure, by technicality Iron Chef and its international spinoffs were reality shows too, but at least he and his nephew made them classy, damnit!

He nearly spat out his food when he saw Yukimura, then Kuronue on screen. As Ariane appeared and explained things to them, he realized that this was another experiment of the Sorting Hat's (yes, he's heard of the village of tents and mass weddings).

He continued to watch in horrified, fascinated pity as the episode played out.

"As cruel as it is, I'm glad I wasn't chosen. How distasteful that would be."

Teru shuddered slightly. "No, I - I'll admit it's selfish, but I thought the same thing." Though probably for different reasons. He was all too familiar with public humiliation.

Kaga continued to watch. "Did...is Kuronue roommates with a cat?" Yeah, in such a weird place, that's pretty weird.

"Apparently. An - orange cat."

Kaga squinted. "I think the cat took a marker to himself. Or something, look at the orange trail he leaves."

Oh damn, Kaga's fascinated by this show.

And Teru was still disturbed. He couldn't help thinking that Ryuk was likely to enjoy this.

"...I pity whoever has Beowulf as a roommate."

Kaga bent his head so it was resting in his hands. "What am I doing, I should be above this. And probably trying to find a way to free Kuronue and Yukimura."

"They're still on the grounds, yes? Or nearby... but I imagine the Hat will have prepared for people trying to break in or out."

"Wouldn't surprise me." Kaga sighed. "Poor Yukimura and Kuronue."

"We could try to tunnel in somehow?" He wasn't confident that that would work, either. "Though... will we be expected to vote on who should be released? Isn't that how these things work?"

"I wouldn't know. I don't watch much television. I suppose we'll find out as it airs."

"No, neither do I. I've just read things - that room is covered entirely in mirrors. How can anyone sleep in there?"

"Don't think about it too much." Then Kaga's eyes widened as he realized he inadvertently revealed something about a youthful indiscretion. "I mean never mind."

Teru pretended he hadn't heard that. He probably wouldn't have registered the meaning if Kaga hadn't pointed it out, anyway. The show was horribly fascinating.

Especially when George introduced himself. "He's a what?"

Kaga facepalmed. "Oh god. One of those pretty boy vampires that's popular nowadays." As if there weren't enough pretty boys in Japan, real or animated.

"The Hat is nuts. That's just it."

"He seems - cheerful, for a vampire." But if he tried to eat anyone, Teru was definitely breaking in. Yukimura could take care of himself, obviously, but still. "I thought they didn't show up in mirrors?"

"One also thought demons didn't exist until coming here. Perspective changes really quickly."

Teru's expression darkened. "...yes. It does." Too many times, for some people.

"At any rate, I'm sure they will accommodate for his...diet. He doesn't want his students dead, after all."

"I'm not sure I'd trust the Hat to -" Teru hesitated, then shook his head. "No, you're right. That would get boring, wouldn't it."

"I suppose you're right. Are they trying to destroy their room?" he asked as it switched to Turlough and Dean.

"Let's just say I'm ...familiar with that kind of mentality. And yes, I think they are. I can't say I blame them."

Kaga's eyebrows rose as the house started regenerating. "The Hat's thought ahead. I'm actually impressed."

Teru nodded. "But that probably means that tunnelling in's out of the question."

"Indeed. Hm. I wonder if Kurama or Kusuriyuri have thought of something." He got up to go find one of them.
