flowers and kittens and nothing exploding ((closed, Rory and A))

Rory was settling in, more or less. He and Amy and the Doctor had all found the Gryffindor dormitories eventually (the staircases moved, why would you build staircases that moved?) and there'd been a good few days of not having to run for their lives from anything, which left him more able to share their enthusiasm.

So here he was, out for a walk in the grounds. Someone was singing in the distance, and not having any other destination in mind, he followed the sound until it led him to a garden.

"I, I am sure the potions and spells in the hospital wing would be considered 'alternative' as well," A said with an affable smile. "Kusuriyuri-sensei has had a very long time to learn the things he teaches me."

Rory laughed, relieved. "Yeah, I don't think the government's going to recognise magical practitioners any time soon, either."

"Your government," A corrected gently. "The wizarding world has its own. Magic and herbalism are quite mainstream to them."

"Oh... yeah." He should've thought of that. That was exactly the kind of slip the Doctor would have called him on. "The muggle government, I mean."

"There are people here from so many places... some of them run governments, where they are from. I wasn't, I, I was not raised to think of 'government' in the singular, even before my arrival here."

"Yeah, you're right." Rory shrugged, looking away uncomfortably. It wasn't that he'd done anything wrong, he was just - being too normal again... no, 'normal' wasn't the right word. Ordinary. Ordinary Rory-Williams-from-Leadworth. 'Muggle' was a good word for it, actually, it sounded right, like onomatopoeia for if being hopelessly average made a noise.

And he'd sworn he wasn't going to feel sorry for himself any more. He shook his head, turning back to A. "So, you were saying?"
