Valentine's Day - not for the single. ((open rp))

Valentine’s Day. A day for lovers and a day to remind the single people that they are still, well, single.
And if you’re a lonely, sickly wizard, it’s just going to make you crankier. The decorations and general squishy, lovey mood had only served to darken Raistlin’s mood. Setting fire to the pink paper hearts and cupids would have been satisfying, but it would have only created more work for the house elves, and he didn’t want to create more work for the creatures that he actually liked.

He tried to avoid the festivities by reading in the library and hoping that when he left, all the nonsense would be over with. Because he certainly wasn't hiding or trying to avoid the entire holiday.

"Love? Like friendship?" Love-romantic love, anyway-was a bit of a foreign concept to her.

"Perhaps. I have not had much experience with friendship," he admitted. "These holidays celebrate love and serve to remind those without it that they are without it."

"That's not nice. They should help people that don't have love to find it!"

Oh, Sunflora, you and your naivete.

He suppressed a snort and reached for his tea. "Love can be very blinding. It makes people see and care for nothing more than each other."

"What is it you are drawing?" he asked, trying to divert his attention from the holiday and the idea of love.

"Mmmm, I don't know yet! I don't know if I should draw friends here or at home."

"What are your friends at home like?" He asked. He had never seen a talking flower before and wondered what other fantastic creatures were in her world.

"There are lots of them! There's Piplup and Chimchar and Corphish and Bidoof and Loudred! We explore together."

She began to draw Piplup, so she could show Raistlin.

His brows rose at the names, all unfamiliar to them. "It sounds like you have many friends at home."

A voice spoke from somewhere above them. "One day in Hogwarts, a mage named Raistlin was lonely."

"EEK!" Sunflora jumped out of her chair. "Wh...who said that?" she said, peering out over the table edge.

Quick as a flash, he was on his feet, spell components in hand, the words already on his lips. Then as quickly as he had moved, he stopped.

"Shirak." The crystal on his staff flared, brightening the room to show that they were alone.

"Raistlin was a little slow to realize what was going on as he talked to the pretty flower." The voice intoned.

His frown deepened to a scowl as he looked around for the source of the mysterious narrator.

If Sunflora had hands, they'd be balled into fists.

"Whoever you are, you better come out!"

Raistlin's lips twitched, he almost smiled at Sunflora's declaration. He cast a pinch of powder into the air and spoke a few words. The powder glimmered and did nothing.

"Raistlin and the pretty flower were confused. They were hearing voices. Oh no!"

"Stupid meanie voices."

Sunflora did not like the voices at all.

"That's right! And if you don't come out right now, I'll use my Solarbeam!"

"Raistlin wished Sunflora had been with him back on Krynn. She would have made a better companion than the Kender, even though he did, deep down, like Tas."

He frowned, how in the hell did the voice know that? Could it be.. ? "Fizban? Is that you? Come out you doddering old man."

"Oohhhh, that's it!" Sunflora's...er...head began to glow.

Sunflora began charging her Solarbeam.

The house elves left in the library began scrambling for cover.

"Raistlin began casting magic missile. Is he attacking the darkness?"

Yes, the Narrator had seen Summoner Geeks.

Sunflora aimed for where she thought the voice was coming from...the ceiling.

She fired. It left a nice hole in the ceiling, just big enough for a small animal to get through.

She is in so much trouble if a teacher catches her.

"Very impressive," Raistlin said, surveying the damage. "But perhaps we should leave before someone finds out."

"Raistlin would never tell on Sunflora. He also had a sinking feeling that the voice was going to follow them anyway."

"Oh, no. I don't want the voice to follow us," Sunflora said, pouting, as they left. "It's scary."

"Don't be afraid, little one. The voice isn't dangerous, it's more of an annoyance."

"Oh that's just -mean-."

"But it's true!" Sunflora said. "You're scary, and annoying! Go away!"

Course, she was much braver now since she had someone to be brave with.

"I'd swear it was a kender doing this," he muttered. "Kenders excel at annoying. We should do our best to ignore it. Tell me about your friends," he said as they walked down the hall.

"Raistlin did not want to admit that he missed Tasselhoff."

"I do -not- miss him," he mage stated flatly.

"Well, there's Loudred. He's very very very very loud. And Piplup used to be a human! But he got turned into a Pokemon when he saved Grovyle from getting hit by Darkrai's attack. And he and Chimchar saved the world from being frozen!"

Sunflora began telling her new friend about her friends at home.

"OH MY GOSH SHUT UP!"

"He was happy that Sunflora thought he was her friend. He didn't have any real friends back home."

Lucky for Raistlin, his gold tinted skin made it difficult to show the flush of embarassment. "They sound like a fine group of friends. Do you go on many adventures?" He asked, trying to ignore the voice.

"Ignore all you like, I'm not leaving."

"Oh yes! We're part of a guild that explores and rescues lost Pokemon and fight outlaws! I usually fight with Corphish and Loudred."
