James leaned closer to her, his lips only a fraction of an inch away from hers before he shifted his head. "I'll be glad to," he whispered in her ear before straightening up.

"It started out an awful lot like this," he said. "Except that you were waiting for me. You told me what I'd have to do for you before you'd reciprocate. It was a very persuasive letter."

Bond cleared his books off of the table. "I suppose that if I had followed the instructions in the letter, I would have come around the corner to find you sitting on the table."
