Open RP: Great Hall: It's Alive!

The circles under his eyes are more pronounced than usual today. L slips into the Great Hall, to get himself a pot of tea. Once it arrives, he sits and pauses, to wait for it to steep. It needs to be stronger than this.

He's been pushing himself on a case the past few days. It's resolved now, but it was the first real challenge he's had since moving here, so he may have dropped off the face of the earth a little. Time to emerge and make sure everyone is still alive and well.

As soon as the tea is finished steeping, that is.

"Mello might, but he wouldn't be as patient as I have been." Which says something, really. "And Naomi. That's all I can think of."

And they called her Mello Yello... Though, he said 'he'...

"Right. Mello." She can deal with impatient, she's sure. "Well, then. Unless you had something else you're willing to say, I'll just see myself off."

"Good. I do want to. We can keep the fish in my room for now, I'll shrink the bed and turn it into a proper office. I really do need one."

He returns to his tea.

"We could buy you office-y shit."

Matt will be hitting up eBay tonight. He spends money way too quickly.

"Fax machines. Staplers. Whatever."

"I've got a fax slash printer."

Two in one.

"I could use a stapler and a filing cabinet." There are some things that can't be saved electronically, and he does better with photos when he can hold them. "And photo quality paper."

"Fancy." Matt grins, and begins rummaging for a cigarette.

"Is there... stuff we'd need? Not for the office?"

"I don't have many clothes, your dresser should fit both of ours."

L isn't worried about that.

"I don't know if you still want condoms, after..." Yes. "Hmm. Pens? Normal scented shampoo?"

"We can bring milkshakes."

That's L's idea of summery.

"And I can make lemonade from the lemons on the tree. Or limeade from the limes."

He's not sure if there is such a thing as mikan-ade.

"Probably. That would be nice, if there were leftover rosemary."

He liked that.

"There are even more herbs now. There is mint, and by then there will be ginger, cornflowers, and chrysanthemum."

If the last two can be used in tea, surely they'd work in lemonade.

"Delicious."

A faint smile.

"Cornflowers are also a nice colour."

"Yes, and you can make dye from them as well. If I can, I will figure out a way to make ink for Matt and Mr. Turlough."

"We probably should still have the condoms, at least. I mean, I got myself checked out and all that, you're not going to catch anything from me, but..."

One day they might feel incredibly safety-conscious, or something.

"I'll get a mini-fridge, too," he decides suddenly. "For cakes and whatever."

"Mr Turlough wants ink?"

Odd request, L thinks.

Obviously, L is always in favour of there being more cake.

"Maybe a cupboard to go on top of it with chips for you."

Matt's secretly kind of amused that talk has turned to food already. Even if he's the one who brought it up.

"It'll be awesome," he says. "The whole thing's gonna be awesome."

L has priorities! They're legitimate.

"I like the idea. What made you suggest it?"

"Wanting a bigger room. Wanting you to stay over more often." Matt shrugs. "I guess they just... came together nicely?"

"A fitting hobby, for a groundskeeper, I suppose."

"It was his requirement, for the greenhouse. That he could draw it."

"We should be glad he did. He is obviously a relatively skilled architect, and magic can make things structurally sound that would not be normally."
