Outside was intimidating. The sky was too big and formless, the wind seemed to come from all directions at once, and the ground was lumpy and uneven under his feet.

But L thought he could be brave. L wanted him to be brave. And A has his wand, after all, and a growing arsenal of hexes to go with it (even if he hasn't actually tested most of them yet).

And so he's exploring the outside of the castle now. The sun is out this time, and it's already warmer than it was when L took him wand-shopping.

And there is new green grass, smelling so fresh and clean, and there are tiny flowers dotting the grass. The daisies A knows, and the foxglove, but botany was not something he studied much and he can't identify any of the others.

But oh, all those tiny shivering alive things in all the terrifying rush of air!

It's a sort of peace he can barely recognize.

Kusuriyuri considers a moment. "The bearberry does not cause as much irritation, but it works best against sicknesses caused by waste. Yellow iris is effective against more, but it is harsh." He looks between the two plants. "Were I to decide on one to use on myself, I would use the bearberry." I slight quirk of his lips. He is not fond of having rashes, even in the name of health.

"And save the iris for a difficult patient?"

The smile continues to play with Kusuriyuri's lips. "Yes, that is one way of thinking of it." It is one way of saying punish those who deserve it without encouraging his student along those lines. "At times, it is needful to cause pain in order to aid with healing."

"Fixing things can hurt." It's not a question, and A shudders slightly as he says it. "Fixing shows how broken they are."

Kusuriyuri has the feeling that A is speaking of himself. "That is so," he replies softly, but not without approval. "But, if one continues through the pain, then one can be stronger." It is both praise and encouragement.

He fingers his throat and smiles a little bitterly. When he lowers his hand, he is relieved not to see it covered in blood.

"It is work to grow stronger. It's harder than being good enough." And A had never, never been quite good enough.

But it feels better, this time, to try. And the acceptance is clear in his voice.

Kusuriyuri nods. "You have had a long lesson today. If you have other questions, I will answer them later. For now, let us walk?" He knows that even the best minds need a rest. Even the strongest need a break when their emotions are thickly involved. It is part of why he wanders.

Nodding silently, A stands. It really does feel a little better to walk with someone else, still, but at least he came out by himself, and especially after talking with Kusuriyuri, A's more than a little proud of that.
