Sirius looked up as Harry left and then back down again. He wasn't sure whether Harry's departure had made things better or worse. Now he didn't have to worry about what one or the other of them said (if either of them said anything at all), but he also had no buffer between himself and Lily.
There was silence, silence, and more silence, broken only by the dry, almost inaudible, sound of his thumbnail scraping against the table.
Finally, Sirius forced himself to reach out and pull a slice of pizza of pizza onto his plate. He took a small bite and chewed it thoroughly - far more than he normally would have.
