A stroll by the lake [Open RP]

Soon will be the night of the Cotton Drifting festival. It will be a little bit strange to celebrate it outside of Hinamizawa, but not necessarily in a bad way. There isn't a river on the grounds, but Rika finds that the lake could work. It would be a lot of work to do, but Rika saw the many gazebos the house elves built, so she knew that they are able to do the worst part in setting up the festival.

Rika walks around the grounds of Hogwarts nearby the lake so that she can look closely at the area most of the festival should be in. The weather is good outside today, so she quietly enjoys the sunlight. Perhaps a picnic would be fun some other time, she thinks.

Soichiro was walking Yukiko, as was his par nowadays. Eh, it was soothing, and it kept him from thinking of depressing things.

Thanks to her leash Yukiko barked but did not run for Rika, waiting until they both were near Rika to try to lick her face.

"Yukiko...." Soichiro said in an admonishing tone.

"Hello, Soichiro," Rika was able to say before Yukiko started to lick her face. Giggling at the silly dog, Rika pushes Yukiko back and the dog calms down after hearing Soi's tone. "How have you been?"

"All right. I've found the other me." He knelt down to scratch Yukiko.

"Is he the same as you were?" Rika asks. When Rika is in a new world after dieing she does not have the memories of the Rika she takes over, but it is possible the new Rika was slightly different than her. Not enough for anyone to notice a change though. For Soi's alter a major event was avoided, so that other Soichiro may be noticeably different.

"Some. He was in the same position I was at this time, and Light had just graduated and joined the NPA, like my Light. I didn't find much else, I only had so much time to look."

"How are you finding this information?" there are several ways to go about it, but since this is the future (to Rika) perhaps there are more convenient ways.

"I went to London and found an internet cafe. I looked this information up on the internet." He smiled. "Yukiko was very upset with me for not taking her."

"I did not know you could look up information on the internet," she muses. It makes sense because computers originally had more professional use than chatting with others. "Did you leave Yukiko with anyone?"

"I had the house elves keep an eye on her, but she prefers me." He petted her again. "It was safer to look on the internet. I did not want to risk being spotted by my other self."

Okay, Sunflora's here to see the squid. It's in water, so Sunflora could beat it, right?

Even if Sunflora has an attack bonus, the squid may be at a much higher level than her.

Rika watches at a distance, but is steadily walking towards the lake again where she should end up close to Sunflora.

Point. It could be at legendary levels.

At any rate, it surfaced enough that Sunflora could see it and go "oh my gosh!", but dived back under before she could confront it. With a splash.

"I'm all wet!" she cried. Not that it was really a problem for her, but it was the principle of the matter.

"Mii~ You do not like the water?" Rika asks when she is close enough that she doesn't need to raise her voice. She expected that a plant wouldn't mind or even enjoy being watered, but Sunflora is different.

"No, I don't mind water, but he got it on me! I just wanted to say hi!"

"Perhaps it is playing with you or is shy. Maybe it will come back up." Rika looks at the lake as if expecting the creature to really come back.

It might not be the best idea to drift cotton where the squid lives, but it isn't showing itself to be hostile, yet.

As if to prove Rika right, more water splashed on them.

"Eek!" Sunflora tried to scoop water up to splash back. Doesn't works so well with leaves, but she tried.

Being splashed isn't exactly hostile, but a little bit annoying. It might have been fun if there was a chance to retaliate, but the squid would probably submerge and splash them again.

Rika decides to play along, now that she is wet anyway, and helps Sunflora ineffectively splash water at the squid.

Coraline was, naturally, exploring the grounds. She'd already checked that the landscape didn't seem to fade away in any direction (unless it happened further away), and was now returning for a closer look at the lake. She grinned when she saw Rika, and ran over to her, waving. "Rika!"

Hearing her name being called, Rika turns to see Coraline running over and she smiles. She heads in the girl's direction and when they are close enough she says, "Coraline! Mii. It is good to see you outside of the sorting room. Are you exploring now?"

"It's good to be out of there, too," Coraline told her. "I'm exploring the grounds now. And I found your list on the computers. Is the squid in the lake really a Lord of Chaos or is it just a squid?"

"Mii. That list is a little bit flawed," such as that person that seemed to have conflicting feelings about the person they put up. "I do not think the giant squid is a Lord of Chaos, and some other names I do not think you have to worry about. Mr. Bonnefoy, for example, was nice to me, so even if he is lecherous to adults you should have nothing to worry about from him."

Coraline nodded. "I thought so. Somebody would probably have mentioned it if it was." And a few of the replies had seemed unhelpful. She'd taken note of the ones that weren't, though.

She turned to look out at the lake. "Have you ever seen it?"

"Yes. The squid will occasionally surface, but I do not think it would attack unless provoked." Splashing isn't included as an attack.

"I'll make sure not to provoke it, then." She rather doubted she'd be able to fight it off. "Do you think it can come out of the water? Octopuses can. I saw that on a documentary. There was an octopus in a tank that kept escaping to another tank to eat crabs."

"I haven't seen it outside of the lake, but sometimes it can be over the surface of the water," Rika only watched the news or something her young friend would like. "I would like to think the squid is mostly harmless, because soon I want to host a festival and I need to borrow the lake for a part of it."
