Though he tries to hide it, I know Near's as upset about L having those pictures as I am. If only the door hadn't locked me in the room, I would have gotten them and destroyed them before anyone could have seen them. I should have taken care of that as soon as I was out of the room. But, there were more pressing matters.

I'm shaking, struggling against my instincts to go and hurt Ryuzaki, that otaku girl and her friend, and destroy all the photographic evidence.

I add B to the list just because I can.

I could do that, but it wouldn't help Near at all. I don't think he knows what to do with how he feels. He's never been demonstrative before.

But, he did offer release, which I think will help us both regain something resembling perspective.

The offer surprised me, though. I mean, I know he's told me he likes to lose himself under the whip, the intensity, I didn't expect him to actually ask for it so directly.

"You're sure about this?" I ask before I open our bedroom door.

He watched avidly at the pile accumulating on the bed. This would hurt, oh yes it would... it would be pure enough to cast him out of his head, if only for a little while.

"I'm not sure, what..." Near craned his neck to look over his shoulder. "Is that a dog collar?"

I shake my head, even though he can't see me. "It's specifically designed for humans, but it is a collar." I wrap it around his neck, securing it snugly. Not overly tight because I will be largely ignoring it, but firmly enough that he knows it's there. I then run my hands down his back and slap his ass lightly. "How's that?"

A gasp. He honestly hadn't expected that, hadn't expected a collar around his neck.

"I can feel it... it's like it's holding my throat. Not squeezing it, just holding it."

And that's not enough, but it's a start. Near's anticipation was worsening, his skin crawling with it, needing to be touched, and touched harshly.

"Please, I need..."

"...to forget, if only for a moment," I finish for him. I pull his hair, twisting his head around until he's facing me. "That's why we're here, my little Near." I kiss him hard, forcing my tongue into his mouth almost before our lips meet. Before either of us can really get into it, I throw his head away from me and move away from him. I finger each tool in turn, the flogger, the crop, the paddle, watching for his reaction before selecting one.

When Mello broke the kiss, Near moaned in protest. So much, he needed so much... but as Mello began to toy with the equipment on the bed, his gaze sharpened. He couldn't help but frown a little at the riding crop; it reminded him too much of why, of part of why, they were upset. The flogger, though... he'd liked that very much. And he was curious about the paddle.

Seeing his reaction, I put the riding crop back under the bed. I bring the flogger and the paddle to the foot of it, putting one on each side of him. I use one hand to pull him around for another kiss and the other to scratch up his belly, digging my nails in. I'm not trying to break the skin, just mark it.

When I pull away again, I wrap a scarf around his eyes. "Shall we begin?" I ask softly, my breath going into his ear.

Near breathed into the kiss, an unvoiced little whine of tense desire. He was feeling so tense, so taught, so fraught. He moved with Mello's hand on his stomach, groaned softly at being blindfolded.

"Need you to... Mello, please, I need you to..."

I reached for the paddle and stepped away from him enough to pull back and bring it forward hard and fast onto his ass. I waited for his screams to turn into whimpers of need before I hit him again. Over and over, a very slow count of ten and then I paused.

The stinging swats took his breath away, each blow feeling sharper, and each provoking an odd, choked cry. There was an immediacy to it, a demanding insistence in the sharp pain that swallowed the whole of his attention.

Good, yes. It's a bright and vivid pain. But it's too localized, too...

"Not enough," he gets out, finally, though he's shaking from the pain of it, can still feel each blow like an afterimage. "Doesn't... doesn't hurt deep enough."

I bite his shoulder while I grab the flogger. I'm tempted to reach over and stroke him. He's already hard, it's amazing. But, he needs more.

I pick up the flogger and step back, looking at his back a moment before I start. He still has bruises. I wonder if he'll ever be completely free of them now? His ass is bright, vivid red. If this is what he wants, though, what he needs. I raise my hand and bring the flogger down across his back, from left shoulder to right hip. I give him a second to savor it and then brick the whip back up, left hip to right shoulder.

At the feel of Mello's teeth, Near sucked in his breath with a wet hiss. It's so visceral, that feeling, such a sensation of presence.

And then the heavy slap of the flogger, god he could feel it in his bones, the shock of it, and it wrings a cry from him from deep in his chest, loud and quavering.

"Yes, oh yes, more, more," he pleads.

His begging somehow changes something deep inside. I can't explain it, only feel it right now. I don't make him wait. I hit him, over and over, up, down, side to side until I can't see. I can hear him, hear his cries, hear him begging, but I can't see him. I am aware of my pants tightening, of my own arousal increasing with each stroke. I need to be buried in his heat, but I make myself wait until...until I don't know...but not yet.

It was perfect, perfect, each blow summoning an echoing cry until they melt into a steady wail, and without consciously realizing it, slipping out of consciously realizing anything, he rose up on the balls of his feet, flinging himself back against the lash to the extent of the give of his bonds.

"Yes," he sobbed, and "More," but indistinctly between his moans and cries. His awareness has narrowed blessedly to the binary of the strikes and the anticipation between blows.

Red, brightly vivid, somehow different, draws my obscured vision. It glistens, shimmering in the light of the room. Some vague part of my brain realizes he's bleeding. It fascinates me. I step forward and lick up the blood. I moan softly. Why do I want this?

Some part of my brain reminds me I need lube. I need to feel his heat around me, I need to taste more of the oh, so sweet fluid tracing glistening red trails down his back. I step back, bring the flogger down across his back again, and move to the bedside table for the lube.

It was a disappointment to feel the blows slow, cease, until the feel of Mello's tongue on his raw and welting back jolted him, and he gasped, arching up again, and as the flogger landed again he let out another ululating cry, then slips into heavy, rasping breaths, silent by comparison.

I keep the flogger in my hand while stripping out of my pants. I can't leave him too long. I'll go insane, I know it. I can feel it. The lube is cold, distantly so. I put it on as I walk back to him.

He's short, too short to do this easily. I pick him up, my arm low around his waist and hold him up while I slide him onto my flesh. More glistening red catches my eye. A moan fills my throat as I lean forward to taste it again. I push him forward so his knees are on the bed. Better that way. Then I can still whip his stomach while we are like this.

Ah god, god, Near bucked and writhed, hoarse ragged yells tearing out of him. His head was full of clean, pure pain, full of the overwhelming pleasure of Mello thrusting into him, the absorbing, thundering, immersive joy of it, and he rocked feverishly between Mello and the lashstrokes, quaking and groaning.

Something niggled my brain about his shoulders. I bit one while reaching up to release his other arm. Something stopped me from doing that. He wanted something to struggle against. Needed it.

God, he was so hot, so tight...so alive. I needed that. I reached over instead and pulled on the collar a little, restricting his breathing with it, as I continued to bite his shoulder.

I could taste the sweet warmth of his blood seeping in around my teeth. I groaned.

The pull of the leather made Near twitch again, the dizzying catch in his constrained breathing making him move harder, faster, the press of Mello's teeth earning soft little moans through his raw and tightened throat.

His thoughts has whited out, he heard only his heartbeat, and even if he weren't blinfolded he'd be seeing nothing. His world was narrowed to sensation, to the sensation that Mello alone could provide.

I dropped the flogger and reached down to stroke his flesh. I needed to come, I needed him to come. I needed it, needed him with me.

It was almost a feeling of loss at first, when the lash fell away, but at the touch of of Mello's hand he whined and bucked up into it, breathing is hissing half-choked gasps, arms wrenching against his bonds, knowing nothing, nothing, only feeling, and when he came he managed a shrill yell despite the grasp of the collar, jerking and spasming to the limits of his narrowed range of motion.

I let myself come with him, releasing his shoulder to moan his name. I felt myself wanting to collapse. I reached up with both hands to release him. He fell face down on the bed before I could catch him. I crawled in the bed and pulled him onto my chest, being careful of his back. Everything was surreal, fuzzy. I wrapped my legs around his and held his arm, my other hand threading through his hair. I couldn't move anymore.

Arms freed, he wrapped them around Mello's waist, clinging as if he feared being torn away. Everything felt overly clear, the air on his abused skin, the soft pillowy comforters, and the anchoring heat and warmth of Mello. He was aware, muzzily, of the blindfold and collar, as his thoughts shaded to words again.

As my body slowed down, I could think again. I turned my head to kiss his cheek. "Better?" I asked softly. If he was ready, he'd answer me. It felt good, his clinginess. My fingers in his hair touched the blindfold. I'd forgotten about it. When he was ready, I'd take it off, and the collar, too. "Better, my Near?"

The sounds slowly resolved into words, and Near smiled as he deciphered them.

"I'm... all I can feel right now is being right here. Being yours. s' sort of fuzzy."

His thoughts were returning but vaguely.
