With the knowledge that L is willing to pay for any computer equipment he might need (which is a relief - he hadn't been looking forward to attempting to get his hands on someone's credit card while shopping with the world's greatest detective), Matt had gone to Hogsmeade and used the last of his money to purchase a wand.
Now he needs to find out what to do with it.
So, he's heading for the library. What he understands of wizarding culture suggests there isn't going to be much on cybermagic, but Matt isn't against figuring out things on his own.

"A loathes him. I trust him to keep it safe. I think it shall be named Schrodinger."
"But she's female," interjects the cashier, and L gives him a dirty look before turning to pick out a bag of kitten food and a toy.

Date: 2008-03-21 12:15 am (UTC)The tiny kitten looked up at Matt and mewled. Matt blinked at it.
"Hmm."

Date: 2008-03-21 12:19 am (UTC)'Mew,' says Schrodinger, looking around for brother and sister kittens. Of which there are none. 'Mew.' Pad-pad-pad, go the paws on the counter.

Date: 2008-03-21 12:23 am (UTC)Experimentally, Matt reaches out and strokes the kitten's back with one finger.
"... hmm."

Date: 2008-03-21 12:27 am (UTC)The cashier returns with a cardboard box, which he begins folding into shape. L watches on, rather amused by the proceedings.
"We can get most of what we need from the house-- staff."

Date: 2008-03-21 12:29 am (UTC)"Yeah. Wait, we're carrying her back in a cardboard box?"
no subject
Date: 2008-03-21 12:32 am (UTC)"As long as there are airholes," L guesses, "it should be fine for short distances. We are ten minutes from being home. I will let her out in my room, until I can find A."

Date: 2008-03-21 12:34 am (UTC)Once Schrodinger is safely desposited into the cardboard box, Matt sighs and picks it up. "I really fucking hope I don't drop this."

Date: 2008-03-21 12:37 am (UTC)"You will not. And there is not far to go."
From the box, comes a tiny, muffled 'mew.'

Date: 2008-03-21 12:43 am (UTC)"Okay."

Date: 2008-03-21 12:47 am (UTC)"Thank you," L tells the clerk, and scooping up the new bag in his one remaining arm, he heads for the door.
"And thank you, Matt, for your patience."

Date: 2008-03-21 01:10 am (UTC)He negotiates sideways onto the escalator. A man trying to push past him gets the lego-bag in the shin, quite obviously on purpose, though he looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.

Date: 2008-03-21 01:15 am (UTC)"Well, you've done pretty well today," he says. There's nothing for Mello, but Matt has no way of knowing whether that's on purpose or not. He wonders whether to bring it up; it's not his money, after all.

Date: 2008-03-21 01:20 am (UTC)"I suppose I have."

Date: 2008-03-21 01:26 am (UTC)The kitten makes a nervous-sounding noise. God. Somehow, Matt decides, transporting a puppy would be easier.

Date: 2008-03-21 01:33 am (UTC)One more escalator ride; God, L hates those things.

Date: 2008-03-21 01:35 am (UTC)He assumes L wouldn't have actually had one.

Date: 2008-03-21 06:29 am (UTC)That was important, though he can no longer remember why.
"And then a dragon. I read too much."

"I would not want to meet one."
